Boston Marathon bans runners from Russia, Belarus

No runners from Russia or Belarus currently appear on the entry list, so either there weren't any, or they've already been removed.

Any chance of them banning runners from Kenya given all the doping going on there?

Ban runners from China who "support a communist regime" then. Cancel culture /SJW BS has no consistency. Do they really think all Russians should be categorized into one? Pretty absurd but that's typical SJW garbage. Emotional and not logical.

The ban would be geopolitically inconsequential, so it’s just Boston making a statement.

There are lots, they just deleted the country. Search "Moscow" as a city for example.

If there were Russians or Belarusians running Boston, they are clearly not involved in the conflict.

It's a shame Boston and other sporting events are co-opted or serve themselves up as political tools - and punish the wrong people.

Similar to the "vaccine" policy of the BAA, excluding Russian and Belarusian runners is meaningless. One more act in the virtue signaling dog-and-pony show currently going on in the NATO countries.

Beware. You could be the next runner on the banned list for some reason unrelated to either you or the BAA.

Part of this is no doubt heartfelt by the social justice element of the BAA. But I also think part is an attempt to further ingratiate themselves with sponsors. Wokeness helps when you go begging for handouts from people with deep pockets.

This will certainly stop the war! I am sure Putin is crying his eyes out right now knowing that a small number of Russian civilians who have nothing to do with the war are not going to get to run Boston. We all remember when Jimmy Carter boycotted the 1980 Olympics; Leonid Brezhnev immediately pulled his troops out of Afghanistan and apologized to the world in front of the United Nations. I bet Putin even gives them a pass to go to the front of the bread line and commutes the death sentences of any relatives and instead gives them a life sentence of hard labor in beautiful Siberia.

It's a good thing they banned those 5'0" 100lb Russian figure skaters from the World Championships. I'm sure they are responsible for at least some of the civilian deaths in Ukraine.

We need to go further to show our support for Ukraine. Russia uses a bear as it's national symbol like we use the bald eagle; WE NEED TO KILL ALL BEARS! That will show 'em!
