I noticed her name in the Manchester results. I wasn't aware that she was competitive again. This is the same Stamps from the late 90's?

the one and only ..Julia Stamps...living in NYC I think...
I wouldn't exactly call that time competitive
When you consider that she also works for a premier investment bank...it certainly should be considered elite.
She lives in NYC and is still hot.

yeh she hasnt done that in a while. works for a certain shoe company now... marrying a guy who works for a premier investment bank though.
Um, occupation doesn't make a performance "elite." Whether or not it's "elite" stands on its own merits.
Considering my 285-lb neighbor has to take care of 8 kids everyday on top of working 3 jobs. I think her 28:17 5K at our neighborhood 5K can be considered elite too. (Especially if you take into account the 350-meter hill at the 1.7 mile mark)
when you consider what she did in high school and the injuries and illnesses she has overcome...it's just good to see her out there running ...Im sure she wishes she were faster...but I bet she is happy running at all...
That's cool, you can be wrong.
dreadful time, no two ways about it. rank amateur, always was and will be.
maybe she is running because she likes to.
Maybe she was running with a friend or something, jeez, you people read way too much into this stuff.
So Smith and Mortimer and all those in front of her don't like to run?
Oh, OK wrote:

I don't recall anyone saying that. Maybe Julia had a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken on the way to the race, or was running for a team, or is focused on something else right now. People do that you know.
I guess any of that would render her performance "elite"?
I don't think it was I who said she was "elite". I'm sure she could be if she wanted to be again. Sometimes people just run. Hard to believe I know.
Fact is, people talk about her, not us. She was a big time somebody, and most of us are big time nobodys.
Great to see that she loves the sport enough to even do it while not considered "elite".

Well put. :)
Um, she's been somewhat competitive for the last few years.... competed at the 2004 Olympic Marathon Trials and she's been doing several competitive races up in the Northeast. Maybe not stellar, but she still has it.
