Kim Smith was winnng woman. Couldn't recognize the winning guy was.
did he look Irish?
A friend of mine who watched instead of running this year said Willis won with Cragg 2nd and then Carroll and Leatherby (AUS) fighting for third.
Smith won with Mary Cullen 2nd.
It was snowing all morning, but the footing was good. The wind was not a factor. It was just cold. It's still only 35 degrees here.
Manchester was my first road race in '71 (traveled to CT from MI w/college teammate from Hamden). Snowed overnite making travel tough and halving the race entries to about 188. Footing was average to poor, windy & chilly. ABurfoot won w/JVitale second. I was about 7th and picked a clock radio for my award (top 25 got to pick 1-25 from merchandise awards). Amby's streak of consecutive Manchester's must be among the longest for any race.
Weather here (MI) this morn at race time was about 15 w/-15 windchill and dusting of snow.
any times?
Cragg is definitely not back yet. Willis is good, but the Cragg we know would beat him at this distance any day of the week, even during base period. He even beat Willis at the 3K not that long ago.
DISCLAIMER: Assumes Cragg gave it full effort and wasn't dragging through a week THAT much tougher than Wilis'.
Always have to waste time with disclaimers because some posters here can't assume the unspoken word. As if I think Cragg could beat Willis by not trying hard and/or when he's extremely tired going into the race.

We have a winner! Yes, Tom finished right behind me that day 34 years ago.
results are up on www.manchesterroadrace.com
Wasn't Emilie Mondor racing? What happened to her? Anyone know how her new training situation in California is going?
If Webb and Ritz raced who would've won?

Actually, I think the original poster is interested in results from 2005, not 1971.
Apparently she hurt her ankle quite badly at the start and then had to stop at about 3miles. Guess she couldn't walk after the race which is quite disapointing as it puts a question mark beside her for next weekend's Canadian champs.
