Seems like the the Russophiles here are finally accepting that the situation is hopeless. Narrative has gone from, Russia won't invade, to it'll be over in a week, to ignore the news Kiev will fall, to continue to ignore the news all going to plan, to keep ignoring news, we just wanted Eastern regions anyway, to ignore the news Ukraine counteroffensive failed, to now, finally they know it is hopeless, so it's now "Russia was duped into this by the US and Europe."
Do you not realize how absurd this position is - Russian more than any country is a oligarch state run by Vlad and his cronies but everyone else if falling for the oligarch propaganda?
The Kharkiv offensive is so far a pretty big success. Even Russia state media is admitting that Ukraine forces have made a breakthrough and Russia has been scrambling reinforcements to try and hold Kharkiv. Russia basically let its guard down in Kharkiv in order to move forces to the south to protect against the counteroffensive in Kherson. UA forces have reportedly blitzed their way through the countryside and are approaching Kupiansk in order to cut off supply line to Kharkiv and start encircling Kharkiv to trap RU forces. And the fighting in the south around Kherson has been fierce with UA forces exploiting weak spots in RU defenses to launch attacks and slowly gain territory.
John Dolan a/k/a Gary Brecher a/k/a the War Nerd has opined that the war in Ukraine is futile as there is no example in history of a half trained militia like UA forces successfully defeating a major military power. Stalemate has been the best outcome historically. And that may still be the outcome in Ukraine, but the recent counteroffensive by Ukraine is challenging the notion that RU is a major military power. RU has not been able to achieve air superiority. RU is suffering serious manpower shortages, giving up territory to scramble forces to hold other parts of the country and then scrambling more forces into the country to try to keep from losing Kharkiv. RU spent six months in Ukraine, lost about 50k soldiers, and basically fought to a stalemate in Donbas, only taking what would be comparable to the Akron/Canton area in NE Ohio. On the battlefield, RU has shown that it only has one move. It sets up a huge line of artillery and bombs everything to the ground, with air support using cluster and phosphorus munitions to try to take out ground forces. But this approach has been blunted by the introduction of long rang missiles and howitzers on the UA side that allow them to shell RU forces without being in range of RU shelling.
Right now, UA has something that is critical. Momentum. RU is on its heels and doing everything it can to avoid major loses that could make even Crimea vulnerable to attack.

You guys have literally been saying the Ukrainian forces are “pretty successful” since March. Not so.
They've lost control of 25% of their own country, despite receiving TENS OF BILLIONS in weapons from the West.
No “half/trained militia” has previously received billions of dollars of high end military equipment, on-field training, intel, etc from 40+ of the richest nations on earth

Ukraine has gained more territory in the past week than Russia gained in the last 3 months. Over those three months, Russia has lost tens of billions of dollars in weapons and tens of thousands of soldiers (killed or wounded). They're now resorting to buying antique artillery from North Korea and malfunctioning drones from Iran. What's next? Buying bows and arrows from Cuba?
Russian logistics were bad in February and March. It seems they haven't improved since then. They don't have the troops, equipment, or supplies where they need them, when they need them; they're now shuffling reserve volunteer battalions from Kharkiv to Kherson and back, because their entire intelligence apparatus is a failure. Despite massively superior numbers, the Russian Air Force has failed to obtain air superiority. The Black Sea Fleet's performance has been even worse. This is by far one of the most pathetic military showings in recorded history and cements Russia's status as a former Superpower turned insignificant third-world sh*thole.
Ukrainian forces are closing in on Kupyansk, and may already be within artillery range. Kupyansk has a major railroad depot that the Russian forces have been relying on to move troops and equipment around Kharkiv. If they're unable to use the railroad in Kupyansk, their previously tenuous logistical situation around Krahkiv becomes even worse.
Are we taking bets on when Putin officially declares war and announces a general mobilization in Russia to replace all their dead, wounded, captured, and AWOL soldiers? The ultra-Nationalists in Russia are already calling for Kremlin leaders to be executed for the failures of the Russian army in Ukraine.

And everyone that has been saying Ukrainian forces are "pretty successful" since March have been completely right in saying that all along.

Russia has completely folded. One of the worlds great empires completely undone by a tiny former vassal to the West.
To the people saying this is the USAs 'fault:' if so, one of the most effective plays in geopolitical in history. Biden joins the ranks of Bismarck, et al.
I see you didn’t dispute any of the facts I mentioned.
From the silly echoing of a blatantly false narrative back in March, to the sanctions having little-to-no effect, to the US-NATO actions bringing the rest of the world together (BRICS+SA) against us more than ever… the facts are indisputable: the US is at the root of yet another global conflict, all for the military industrial complex, while hilariously trying to paint themselves as dEfEnDeRs oF dEmOcRaCy. Just a giant coincidence that many of our politicians - including the current acting president - have been enriching themselves through Ukraine corruption for YEARS.
And you jergoffs not only fall for it, you defend it! Unfathomably stupid.
I'm a simple man. I like seeing commies lose, including yourself.
The Russian Federation looks set to face growing threats from domestic separatist movements in the coming years as Vladimir Putin's disastrous decision to invade Ukraine serves as a catalyst for imperial collapse.

I don't think President Biden deserves as much credit as you subscribe. Biden didn't commit himself or the US to helping Ukraine until Ukraine pushed the Russians away from Kyiv.
What did the President of the USA ask the president of Ukraine when Russia invaded?
Answer; Do want a plane to get out of Ukraine?
Volodymyr Zelensky responded, "I don't need a ride, I need ammunition."
You are witnessing the fruitage of Autocratic dictator corruption. Putin and crew rob the country of its national resources for personal gain. And then all around him do the same. Then they are surprised to learn that the entire military has been looted and neglected. The citizens know the only way to get ahead is to be corrupt.
This is what Trump was trying to do here. Rip up the country and sell it off for parts to the highest bidders. Why care what happens 10-15 years down the road?
Seeing lots of reports of Russian invaders running from around Kharkiv like scared rats and leaving significant amounts of equipment behind, which Ukraine will be more than happy to use to help persuade any remaining Russians to get the eff out of Ukraine. Watching Russia’s military be completely inept live on the internet has been worth every single tax dollar that I’ve spent on US support of Ukraine.

Ha! Ha! Ha! You guys are absolutely pathetic!
Don't make a mistake, Ukraine is NEVER getting its 20% back. This is a price to pay for getting duped by the West.

Valuable time was wasted in the interim.
False. Biden was the one warning the world about what Russia was about to do. Most on the right in the US and left in Europe mocked him and called him a warmonger. Ukraine didn't really respond until Russia was almost inside the country. When the invasion happened, Biden was the one making sure there was a durable coalition of support. He has been 2 steps ahead of Putin from day one, because he had the Russian plans nearly a year in advance.
