I’ll just note, for the record, that you suck. First, saying “they” instead of “she” isn’t hard. And Nikki’s only controversial to the extent that folks like you exist
"they" is plural. I am all for Nikki's gender identity but please pick another pronoun because, in English, "they" refers to multiple individuals. What is controversial is that Nikki and people like her (I am referring to attitude, not gender identity) blame other people for not conforming to their will. It has been written many times, if Nikki doesn't identify as female, then don't compete as one. If she chooses to compete as a female athlete, don't expect empathy when female words are used in the proper context.
The starter uses the term ladies because races are broken down by gender and it is the lady's division. Perhaps at some point they will have a non-gender division, at which point I would expect the starter to no longer say ladies and gentlemen. - What am I missing?
"They" is plural. And the offense shown by the "they" crowd, as defined by "them" is ridiculous. "They" are essentially waving flags that scream "I'm offended," and maybe they should for real, so we can tell them apart.
I should not be held responsible if I "accidentally" say HE or HER to someone who is, in fact, a HE or HER according to anatomical science, all because they'd rather be recognized as a group, and not a person.
They have posted several times about being unsponsored and selling t-shirts to help fund their training.
Did they get dropped by Adidas or are they going after another sponsor? Any insight? What companies might pick them up, if any? What would they need to do to get sponsored again?
Wait, someone please help me out.
Are we talking about Nikki, or her training group? I literally cannot tell.
If this is asking about her specifically, because she's slower than she was last year. Ran 6 seconds slower in the mile at the armory.
You and anyone else who is saying this are admitting that you're trapped by your own mind. There's nothing wrong with that and clearly you can't help it, but it's just something to understand about yourself. The rest of us who can understand context aren't having this issue.

Actually, it's anachronistic and "athletes" or "competitors" would be quite context specific to use. But yeah, even that is too woke for the boomers and their simps.

Why shouldn't you be held accountable for being an a*s? Why are you against personal responsibility for your actions? What type of snowflake are you?

Nikki has a new sponsor, and is so happy about this sponsor, it, er, them, er, they, won't say who it, or them, or they are.

^^^complete insanity. The world has officially lost the plot.
The hype about her championing transgender issues is not relevant here.
She’s not sponsored because she’s aged out of her events and ceased to become competitive a few years ago.
First of all Nikki goes by they, and it's really not that hard to say "they". The fact that so many of you are so resistant to saying "they" is kind of what keeps Nikki relevant. The more you intentionally misgender them, the more you prove their point that trans people face needless discrimination.
They? She is ONE person. She is A individual. Shes not plural! You can hollar from the rooftops for people to call you whatever you want but that doesnt mean others have to accept to call you that! She is a person, she has a face, she has a voice. What someone calls her has nothing to do with all of that.
categorizing is very useful in life. pretending everything is ambiguous isn't doing anybody any favors. The needs of these people are very narcissistic.

Actually, "singular they" has been in common usage since at least 1375 (according to the Oxford English Dictionary), and appears frequently in Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Dickens, and elsewhere.
Because it's usage has become politicized, you now have a bunch of people complaining that they're so confused and bewildered - even though they never previously blinked when they read sentences like "If someone calls while I'm out, tell them I'll call back tomorrow." The technical term for this sort of mock outrage is "pearl-clutching."
Why do "they" get to run with the"shes"? We Should have a men's race, a women's race and a "they's" race. Anyone who goes along with this nonsense is a clown.

I love singular they just like any sensible person who hates saying "he or she" (or "she or he"?) instead. However, the context is just different here. The traditional use implies that you do not know who the subject is, so you cannot know their gender. See how convenient using singular they was in the previous sentence? But saying "Nikki Hiltz is having a great season, and they are the favorite to win today" sounds off, and is putting extra mental load on the speaker.
Really wish English did not have gendered pronouns, but that ship has sailed.
I can think of at least ten other athletes that I would rather get contracts than Nikki. Nothing against her personally but several others that are far more talented.
