You’re right, 4:07 is silly. We’ve no idea who the best actually is. It’s like watching the Yankees play the Red Sox and both teams refuse to use their best hitters.
This is dumb. Centro won the olympics in 3:50, and that doesn't mean any one who has broken 3:50 in the 1500 is faster than him. I agree that the mile was a silly, slow championship race, but your statement is ridiculous.
you guys really suck at detecting trolling. do you all really think the OP thinks that D1 is better than D3 because of a single, obviously skewed race result?
OP I'd give you a high troll score but these responses just make me sad for humanity

This. Terrible data points. Garbage in, garbage out.
It would be about the same if D3 ran on the same tracks and had the same opportunities. Division isn't what makes people fast. They guys are all human.

You need to get over yourself. Seriously....
D3 is about as competitive as a 2nd tier D1 conference e.g. Metro Atlantic. Look at the #10, #50 times. Look at outdoor track depth. Look at XC times. D3 usually has a sub 4 and sub 29 every ~5yrs, and maybe 1-2 sub 14 every year. The same as MAC
Yes, I agree that Ryan Aidan would have won D1 nationals this weekend with his 4:05 on a flat track. Recall that for many years he was developed under the expert coaching of my son, Jamie Norton, who is a 4:06 miler and also would have won D1 nationals. D3 is superior
