In the midst of a record-setting season, Wayment is planning on returning to Provo to compete for the Cougars again next year. But first there is work to be done
I thought you would be on her talking sh|t after the 3000. way ahead. Where are you? Nice race by Wayment but a better one from Roe and Tuohy. You’re a Tuohy hater. Where are you?
Only an obtuse person would think it is “convoluted.” 🤣
What is weirder to say in March? "She is 23." or "She will be 24 in August."? August is five months away. If her birthday was next week, maybe it might sense to say when she'd turn 24, but she's mid-23 now.
You get the award for best post of the week. 50% of the thousands of posts about Tuohy talk about her age as compared to her competition insinuating that she will improve more than her competition even though the NCAA doesn't give awards for that. But as you wisely pointed out, the only thing that matters is who wins. It does not matter how much somebody has improved, it doesn't matter what the person will be doing 3 years from now, it doesn't matter how old the person is. Wayment is faster than Tuohy in both the 3000 and 5000. Those are the facts. Wayment won a championship while Tuohy lost 2. Tuohy stated that she is in every race to win. Tuohy beat Wayment in the 3000 doubling back which is impressive.

the comments about age are a bit much. I never bring that up, though I admit I'll participate when it's brought up. I do think it makes a difference, but the NCAA doesn't run a varsity and a JV. The older runners should have an advantage! It is special when an underclassmen comes in and beats up on the older runners.
THere is a fine line between pumping up the younger runner for being so good for their age and bashing the older runner for having an unfair advantage.
I think Wayment is within an acceptable range. One more year, and I might have a pretty big problem. The extra covid year does make things a kind of hairy though. Most of these top runners did not stop training and gaining that year.
Most studies I have seen say that American runners peak at 24-25. That means the 5th and 6th year runners have an advantage. But so what? Those are the rules. And it means that runners at 26-27 start having a disadvantage too.
