That's totally false. Food contains very little vitamin D. And the few foods that do have some vitamin D usually have it because it's been artificially added.
There are only 2 ways to get vitamin D up to a healthy level. One way is to take a daily vitamin D supplement. (Preferably one that also contains vitamin K.)
The other way is to spend time outdoors in the sun with plenty of your skin exposed, and don't wear sunblock. And being in the sun
isn't enough to get your vitamin D level up high enough if you have dark skin, or are obese, or are elderly, or you wear sunblock, or it's during the winter, or you live far away from the equator, or you live in areas that are cloudy a lot of the time.
The bottom line is most people need a vitamin D supplement.
