Hi all. I just ran a 2:03 (62, 61) at my first meet. I was really hoping to do better because I ran a 2:03 (61, 62) in a time trial 2 weeks ago. (both indoor). My conversion on a banked track was a 2:01 though.
At the meet, the lead pack took it out ridiculously slow at like 30 through the first 200. Only one guy broke 2 in our heat and he negative split a 62 and 56. It was hard to get around them because the whole team was running wide. Everyone else in my heat ran a 2:01 to a 2:04.
The reason I'm stressed is because I was actually dead that last lap, mainly the last 50-100m of the race. If I go out in 57/58 are the chances of me dying out high? Is that normal?
I feel as if I go out in 57/58 I'm going to close in like 65 or slower, leading me to a 2:03 again. Which I'm scared of. I'd be happy with a 1:59.99 for all I care.
Also sorry for all the questions, this was my first 800m race, I'm very inexperienced. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
(I can run a 51.3 open 400 OUTDOOR for reference. I just don't have endurance). Though, in that same day I ran my 800, I went 53 low in the 4x4b team.
