So sad you tried to pull the race card on this, which is ridiculous
Nguese was soft and selfish, his color has nothing to do with it
Soft for not racing
Selfish for not organizing for a replacement when he knew he was injured
We as actual runners, rather than armchair football fans, have all raced injured, sick and unprepared. We all know it takes guts.
Now we all know Nuguse is gutless.
You sound like you’ve had an uphill battle of a life. I hope your grit is a little more kind when your own children wimp out in their competition. Make sure you don’t feed them or anything when they cry because they got benched or because they were too sore to run a race. Could never happen to hard true blooded American 🇺🇸.

Yes, but in the Olympics, representing your country, you do it. You race no matter what.
If you only raced when you were 100%, you’d never race.
Everyone runner has raced injured or sick. It’s the nature of the sport. Yeah it sucks. Yeah it’s risky. We have all done it for lesser racers than the Olympics because other people were counting on us or we were representing school, club, team, college., etc.
If you go to the Olympics, you’re expected to race, no matter what. If you don’t, everyone knows your weak.
So basic and rudimentary. 85% and you race. Can’t go 100 meters without excruciating pain? Suck it up and sacrifice for your country. Funny thing is if he did give it the old tough guy effort and ran bad or dropped out everyone (boomers) would be crying about it too.

It is never enough for them. See Donovan Brazier.

That made me laugh
If he’s not willing to lay in on the line and take risks at the Olympics. He gutless. He was scared to run and withdrew. His choice.
Being an Olympian takes risks. That’s why he ain’t one.
That’s why he needs you defend him. That’s why people are making fun of him for now dropping out of Milrose.
He’s soft. Everyone knows it. Because everyone here has raced injured at least once, probably numerous times.
Let’s hope he didn’t get an Olympic Rings tattoo. That would be embarrassing.
I can’t think of a single American track and field athlete that withdrew from their event and never even attempted to compete at the Olympic Games.

Some people here are complete DBags and think that everyone should Kerry Strug it and compete with a broken ankle regardless. They really hate Naguse.
Others, perhaps the more reasonable ones, actually believe Naguse's decision was lame because he actually knew he was hurt 10 days before the 1500s started and could have made a decision with enough time for Engels to race.
Deserved or not, this is Naguse's legacy.
If he's not hurt and ends up racing next week in an NCAA meet after dropping Millrose, well his coach is really phukking with his reputation

Nugse is not an Olympian
There’s something wrong with you. I can’t quite put my finger on it but…
And others think there’s something wrong with someone claiming to be an Olympian when they have never completed in Olympic competition.
However, on thing that everyone agrees on is that if you PARTICIPATE in Olympic competition in any event at the Olympic Games, you are an Olympian.

I mentioned my time because at 14:15 for 5k, no one cared if I ran or not. If you are the NCAA 1500 meter record holder, people care. I don't understand why you are lmao about "maybe he has a test." I frequently missed practices because of labs or tests in college, and missed one or two track meets. I guess your college experience was different.
WTH? Newsflash.......every athlete has a test, they are all full time students. What kind of BS excuse is that? You didn't run in college or maybe you didn't travel. You mentioned maybe he had issues with family or friends. SMH......
racing while injured is generally a stupid idea and most will regret their decision, but in this case you have to wonder about the level of injury as people race thru niggles literally all the time that might impact their performance to some degree, but the benefit outweighs the risk. he seemingly missed no significant time after dropping out of the olympics and he just ran a 354 mile with no indication of injury last week. if you expect to be close to 100% for every race you are delusional. a 354 high mile converts to like a 337 1500 or 748-49 3k. so i dont he would be competing for a win either way and maybe he knows that. im sure he prefers the collegiate level where he is a favorite to win most every race now.
I agree with everything you said, buy you need to understand where some of the posters are coming from. The fact that there are lots of people who think strongly about you means you have lots of fans. Fans are invested in the athletes they follow, that's what it means to be a fan and to them, true or false Nuguse appears to be like Kyrie Irving. In most NCAA and professional sports, you know why an athlete is not competing. Communications is a major shortcoming in T&F, which is what leads people to speculate.
Now, word on the street is. This was Carlson's decision and not Yared's
