Doesn't mean he can break 13.5 in the 100.

No. I am full of myself and my gigantic ego compels me to arrogantly opine on anything I see and put down others who are better than I could ever dream of being
Great job, Nico!

He did not, he ran a 4:02. It's a very promising performance for a sea-level 1500 or mile in the future. To be "fast" or a mid-distance runner of note in the USA I think a sub 3:37 or sub 3:54 mile is what would put you in the mix to make a USA final. Hoping Nico can get there because to get onto a worlds team for the 5,000 he will likely need that sort of speed.

No, he's not a middle distance runner but some posters believed he was so slow he should drop out of school to focus on running marathons. It now seems like he has the ability to be competitive on the track for years to come.
I admit that I did not see this coming.
I think Nico Young isn’t really a mid-distance guy, more like a Moh Ahmed type, who can roll at the mile when he’s in crazy 5k shape.
Nico recently ran 13:22 and he looks even fitter so it’s not a stretch to say that he’s potentially in 13:15 5k shape. It’s also realistic to say that for an endurance based guy the conversion might be more like 3:55-3:56.
So if he’s a 13:15/3:55 guy right now fitness wise, I’d still say that he’s distance based, instead of mid-distance.
We shall see, he is running the 3000 at Millrose.

Does Nico beat the Oregon boys that haven't stepped on the track this training block?
https://youtu.be/0Y3_cIbRvhMOnly in the G League of distance running does a 4:02 miler get this much hype
4:02 at altitude, outkicking a 3:35 1500m guy is really good for a 20 year old 5k/10k runnner
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
