Say 15-17 easy followed by 2-3 miles lactate threshold pace?
I struggle with such workout, any alternatives?

I think it's pretty normal to do fast finish long runs. You don't always have to get down to LT. Half marathon to marathon pace is fine. Routinely do stuff like this where you're doing 16-22 miles w./ a 3-4 mile push towards the end before a couple of cooldown miles.
You could also try something like 2-3 E, 2-3 @ T, 4-6 E, 2-3 @ T, 2-3 E. Maybe breaking up the workout with some easy running would be beneficial.
If you're really struggling, maybe run easier until the quality or start the quality at an easier pace.
Try slowing it down to marathon pace. Sometimes it just takes time to be able to handle it. Maybe your long run is just to long as well
At times I've had good results when I did some fast-finish long runs. The last 20-30 minutes was faster but not quite as fast as LT pace except maybe the very end of the run.
Makes no sense to me. Go 15 miles. First 9 miles easy, then 6 miles faster but not faster than marathon pace. Do the faster running the day before your long run.
