100% agree. Impossible burgers are bad but you can at least pass them off as low-quality meat that has been poorly cooked if you load them up with toppings. Beyond meat products are absolutely disgusting. Insane amounts of salt. They have this weird taste and smell that makes you cringe.
I had a beyond meat sausage at a BBQ not realizing it wasn't real meat when I was served and had to dump it out it was so bad. On biting in it was immediately obvious it wasn't real pork.
If you don't want a meat patty go with a real vegetable or bean one that is well made. Some of those aren't bad. But the fake meat that pretends to be meat is garbage and almost certainly extremely unhealthy. It will no doubt be one of those things we find out is way worse for the environment than the real thing in 5 years.
There are not 'insane amounts of salt' in beyond meat products when compared to the real thing. Its actually quite comparable. For example if you are talking about the beyond meat brat its about the same as a typical brat. A typical brat is also loaded with all kinds of fillers and additives, so theres no arguing it is somehow better or less processed.
Believing that these meat alternatives are somehow 'garbage' and 'extremely unhealthy' compared to the real thing is complete fantasy. Certainly they are not a health food, but I think a lot of you would be served well to actually learn about what is in the food you are eating because its pretty obvious you don't know.
Bet quite a few of those declaring them “disgusting” wouldn’t be able to pass a blind taste taste pitching them against real meat.
well i bought 1 real and 1 imposs, both tasted similar to me. If there a benefits to the non meat burger i'm ok eating it. Reducing livestoc that farts methane and who's crap runs off into rivers seems like a decent trade off. I'm not convinced the imposs are healthier that real beef though.

Yes, if you truly care about your health you should make your own patty at home, with beans. Or just not eat any burger and eat something else.
Still it is nice to have the option. It makes traveling a lot easier when I know I can just grab an impossible burger from burger king. Its not the best option but there are times when it is one of the only options. And it hits that burger craving spot for me.

Anyone with half a brain knows you don't hit a fast food joint for "healthy" alternatives. Certainly not one of the burger barns. You hit up Subway, at worst. Or maybe Chipotle. Do you really think anyone gets an Impossible Burger and doesn't get fries and a soad with it?
1) You are correct in general about fast food.
2) I would argue that if you get deli-meat options at Subway that that is worse for you than a fast food burger.
3) I KNOW that there are people who get the Impossible Burger without fries and a soda from Burger King. I live across the street from a whole family who does that. Surely others do also.
The impossible burger is reminiscent of the burgers we used to get in cafeteria lunch when I was in elementary school in the 80s. I reckon it was mostly soy or some other textured filler product. They didn't taste at all like meat but I liked them anyway except for that sort of rubbery chew. I give them a thumbs up.
Has anyone here tried the Impossible Whopper from Burger King? I've thought about trying one. I had a Burger King cheeseburger about a month ago and it was great as I had not had a fast food cheeseburger in over 5 years.
Impossible burgers are fine. They can't compare to the real thing, of course, but few foods do. Some people don't want to eat animal cruelty on a bun. More power to 'em.
I stopped eating Impossible & Beyond Meat burgers a few year ago because something in them kept triggering acne outbreaks. I also agree that they are loaded with Saturated fat and aren't as healthy as other Vegan burger brands. I personally eat Dr. Praeger's Perfect Burgers as my Pea Protein burger of choice. Healthier alternative to the other two.
So what are the best veggie "burgers" or patties out there? (grocery, health food store, homemade, etc.)?
There's a diner nearby that makes a few different things using tempeh (soy beans). They make a Tempeh Rueben (like a burger) that's pretty darn good.
I don't really understand the point of fake meat. The world is full of absolutely delicious vegetarian food. If I'm not eating meat tonight, why would I essentially eat the culinary version of compress board instead of, say, ordering one of the many dozens of amazing meat free Indian dishes?

Not sure on the sausage but a beyond meat patty has about 6 times the sodium as an 80/20 ground beef patty. If you're comparison is an upper processed brat, maybe beyond meat is the same level of unhealthiness. But I'd say for a burger that's a pretty significant difference.
Sorry I didn't have all the nutrition facts to compare on a beyond meat sausage I had someone's party on one occassion. I don't think anyone tracks what they eat at someones BBQ as close as what is in their regular diet. I stand by my statement that we are going to find out beyond meat beef is worse for you than the real thing. The anti meat cartel has regularly lied about how unhealthy red meat is, and I would be stunned if we didn't find out this beyond meat stuff is atrocious for you.
Regardless the fact that they taste awful and nothing like real meat is pretty much undeniable. No serious meat eater is going to convert to that crap. It's only going to be vegetarians and vegans who are into it.

Because rando small town America doesn't have an Indian restaurant. I've been a vegetarian for 20+ years and there are over 7,000 Burger Kings in the USA and usually it's the only fast food vegetarian one can find, except maybe something at Subway, which I believe is only the veggie delite. I travel a lot and the Impossible Whopper has been a godsend.

I totally agree the aftertaste is unbearable. If you don't want to eat meat just eat a bean burger. It doesn't even taste bad cuz it's not trying to be a real burger.
