How is he overrated? He's a middle of the pack QB, somewhere around 14-17, and that is who he always is and will be. Who thinks he is more than that?

Qbr ranking of 7 is not middle of the pack.

Make a list of current quarterbacks better than Murray.
In order:
Tom Brady
Aaron Rogers
Patrick Mahomes
Joe Burrow
Mac Jones
Justin Herbert
Josh Allen
Russel Wilson
Matt Stafford
Lamar Jackson
Derrick Carr
Kirk Cousins
Tua Tagovailoa
Ben Roethlesberger
Justin Fields
Jared Goff
Jameis Winston
Trevor Lawrence
Jimmy Garroppolo
Jalen Hurts
Matt Ryan
Daniel Jones
Trevor Heinike
Baker Mayfield
Teddy Bridgewater
Nope.
Shift Mac Jones down to after Derick Carr
Who cares about the rest.
Too early to say. NFL teams figure out QB's within a year or so. The great ones continue to develop and find ways to win , no matter what. Give him another year or so and we'll see.

Objectively he’s the 7th best qb in the nfl.
I was prepared to battle on this QBR comment but now that I look at it, it's a decent measure even if the order isn't perfect. If you would have asked me the best QBs in the league I'd say Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, and Allen. And they're 4 of the top 6 for QBR.
Herbert is 3 for QBR and he's a next tier QB. I'd also put Burrow (11th) and Wilson (12th) in that next tier.
After that a lot of guys are similar - Tannehill, Jimmy G, Kyler, Dak, Lamar, Carr, Cousins, Stafford. They're clearly starting NFL QB caliber but not quite as good as those top 7, and they make up most of the rest of the top 15 for QBR so I'd say I'm a little surprised that the stats match the eye test.
When you are the 1st pick in the NFL draft and the 9th pick in the MLB draft it seems that you are a very good athlete. Very good.

Nah, that would be Tom Brady. He is the luckiest, but people say he is the best. Probably fifth or sixth all time.
Reasonable viewpoint 10 yrs ago. Too many data points and comebacks for that to be true, esp with revolving door of running backs and wide receivers that are mediocre. Lets see...randy moss for couple yrs, Edelman, Gronk...not much more.
He's won more with less.
You are talking offense. Name the defensive stars, and you will see they carried him quite often. In fact, the one year he had a stacked offense in NE, they lost to Eli, of all people. No, he is the luckiest, because he played for the GOAT coach and had some of the stoutest defenses of his era. And don't get me started about the super team in Tampa.

Where is he ranked number 7 at?

He just finished the regular season with the 7th best QBR this year.
Yes. But Rodgers is 1st but fails in the playoffs regularly. 7th best regular season with a terrible playoff game doesn't put in 7th in subjective rankings. It is sort of like Webb or Favor.
Funny how I didn't see this thread BEFORE this week's loss.

7th is his rating for the entire season. I suspect for the last half of the season it was lower. Both this year and last year the Cards played badly down the stretch.
Last year they were at 6-3 and finished 8-8. This season they lost 5 of their last 6 and bombed in the playoff. Sure there were injuries but that is true for every team.
Despite his numbers he is not an elite QB until he can carry a team when it counts. Maybe he will develop into such a player but i would guess not.

He's 5'8 in heels. Anyone with a clue knew he wasn't going to pan out. Same deal with Lamar Jackson not being able to throw a football or read a defense. If you're athletic enough you can be great versus the average and worse NFL teams. When it comes to facing the top tier teams your flaws become very obvious.
It's not the Tom Brady isn't good, he is probably the GOAT. He is also the luckiest of all time though. Fact: Tom Brady has a better playoff record in games where he throws 3 interceptions than Aaron Rodgers does in games where he throws 3 touchdowns. Brady plays very well in the playoffs, but in a lot of the games he's played badly he was bailed out by his defense. 7 rings = unprecedented skill + unprecedented luck.

There are only a handful of tier 1 elite quarterbacks on earth. Nobody is saying Kyler is one of them. So exactly what point are you arguing? What are you confused about?
Not even sure why we're doing this thread but his QBR has been 15th/14th/7th in his 1st 3 seasons. He's a very good quarterback. Tons of teams would like to have him.

Dude wins six super bowls. Most clutch player ever. Countless fourth quarter drives to win important games. Dude switches teams and wins another one.

I loathe Tom Brady. I was in the he's just a system QB camp until he went to TB and won without Bellichick. He's a great QB.
That being said I think the great QBs of the 80's were all better. If Brady got hit like they did in the 80's he would have retired at 22.
I've always believed that Brady's toughness/durability is underrated. This would've put half the league's QBs in the hospital:
Brady is undoubtedly more overrated than Kyler Murray. People talk about Brady like he's the greatest athlete of all time. People talk about Kyler Murray like he's currently a good but not great quarterback.
