I know this is Ohio, but it could be any state. Ohio has the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches, but does anyone here actually know how they rank teams, or is it mainly guesswork?
My alma mater was 26th in the state coming into the season, but they managed to make it out of a tough Boardman regional and advance to state for the first time in team history. Historically, they'd get individuals to state but never as a team. The boys advanced as a team but the girls advanced one runner this year.
Edgewood’s girls’ team was ranked No. 17 in Division II, Perry was tied for 24th, and Hawken came in tied for 25th. West Geauga was tied for 26th.
The Division II boys rankings have Hawken at No. 11, Chagrin Falls tied for 25th, and West Geauga at No. 26.
They didn't place high at state but are returning two guys. The average finish was 17:15 and the average mile was 5:30. The five-man gap was 0:59; we've been a good pack team since the 1990s but have never been able to get out of Boardman (Div. II) as a team until 2021.
