Butler 2:01 to win ACC 800, #1 time in country now. Might be tough for her to give up 800 for DMR. 1 hour between start of 800 m heats and DMR at Nationals.
I just cant figure that kid out. She seems to run only hot or cold. She runs really fast or comes in last. Literally. Who comes in distant last in a conference final then wins it the very next year? Did the same thing in high school running in the 4:30s to beat Starliper at New Balance and in their state championship races two years straight and then running slow at Footlocker three years in a row. Remind me not to gamble on her or against her. But good to see shes on the rise again apparently.
Kaylee Mitchell of Oregon St and Julia Heymach of Stanford go sub 9 in 3000 today so they can qualify. This opens Stanford to having Heymach to do the DMR and 3000 double. Fegans 9:01.3 today may not make it - depends on who does not declare for 3000. Maybe if Mackay and Camarena do not she gets in. Emily Covert of CO tried but she faded to 9:04. Still a great time for her.
Several observations. Wayment of BYU ran the 3000 at the US Championships. 9:00 - and the pace was very reasonable at 2:57.5, 5:57.7. One would think she ran there to get a good time. She may not be as "invincible" as thought. McCabe as apparently had some injury issues as well - so same thoughts on her.
from the WV Big 12 championships recap
"Ceili was very strong in her first mile at the collegiate level," Cleary said. "Ceili has had a few hiccups training since the fall, but she came out here and ran very competitively." On Saturday, McCabe led the way placing third in the mile run. She finished in a time of 4:38.99."
She did run about the same time on a DMR leg the prior day though.

Taryn Parks of UNC takes down Barnett, Ryan, Bush and everyone else to win ACC in 4:36.

Which is why I have commented before that Parks should focus on the mile and not push it in XC or longer track distances. At least for now, longer distances are beyond her range on an elite level.
Just in case anyone is interested, Marlee Starliper started a blog where she talks at length about her injuries and the frustration of not being able to race yet. She has been through a lot, but it sounds like she may be close to being fully healthy. You can check it out at marleestarliper.com
It is very well written, and I think anyone who has dealt with a long term injury situation will be able to relate. I for one am rooting for her and will be excited to see her race for NC State. She has really had a tough time.

Loss of Valby and pulling Diggs out of some event tightens up FL vs AR team race. If AR can hang onto DMR w/o Gregory (might be tough), Gregory place high in 3k/5k (also tough) and Maloney can beat Butler (also tough) AR might be able to pull it out.
Isn't it odd that BYU women listed no alternates for DMR team which includes Seymour (in 800) and Wayment (in 5000 and 3000)? 1 hour between start of 800 heats and DMR start. 40 minutes between start of 5000 and DMR start. If no alternate declared they can't just sub someone else in (who is not in another event), can they? Did their alternates get lost?
that does seem strange...I thought they had to be listed. Interesting that Starliper is listed under NC State....does this mean she is healthy again?
Technically they can run anyone that has qualified for the meet. They only have to list alternates if they want to run someone that hasn't qualified for the meet in another event. In BYU's case, they don't have any other distance runners qualified other than what is on their DMR. So they will have to run those 4.

In the lastest video (above) she seemed to be saying she was healthy. I can't believe they would run her on this relay unless they want to rest Bush so she is totally fresh for 3000. But that would be odd. Bush just ran 4 races at ACC though (Th DMR/Fr mile/Sat mile/Sat 3000). I would think Shaw would anchor DMR.

They may want to replace Bush and Kelsey since both have a shot to be top three in their individual races. Heck, Kelsey would have a good chance to win the 5k if rested. I would not be surprised if Starliper and Shaw replace them. Running multiple events at ACC’s is one thing, but Nationals is another! It will be interesting to see what is decided.
