Even more seriously, the tidal waves of right wing misinformation damage the overall credibility of the entire site.
This is the #1 reason I don't come here much anymore. The site has gone from right-wing to alt-right, and it's run the message boards to ruin. Now I check news maybe once a week and read through the message board a bit less often than that.
Same. There is no reason to visit the site anymore, unless you want to laugh at the latest alt-right lies and derangement. Sports forums typically slant in that direction at default, due to heavy percentage of young white right wing males. This site was midrange in the category many years ago. Now it is the absolute worst. There are college football sites operated by extreme right wingers who recently and reluctantly realized they were allowing too much, and took steps to restore content recognizable toward the theme of the site. This board has done nothing of the sort. It is a free for all of filth. And that only happens when the administrators are so brainwashed in the same direction they have lost all competence in evaluating any related topic. Pure nutcase sounds reasonable to them.
The upvote/downvote aspect will make things even worse. College football sites with that feature are notorious for right wing posters who pass around hit lists via private message, directing their flock to relentlessly downvote every post by a non-righty, along with negative reputation. It becomes a farce. The highest rated posters are the birtherism types, and so forth.
You'll see what I mean, when the feature is enabled here, even if there isn't private messaging. The caliber of post will have no relationship to the upvote/downvote ratio.
The ability to edit a post should have been available long ago, even for a brief window. Typically the best application is when it's open just long enough to fix an obvious typo or similar. On a sports (ha) site you don't want it open long enough to edit predictions or opinions after the fact.
