I started runnning a year ago at the age of 18. I ran an XC race in 30:30 my first time out for 8k. (no training, none) By the end of last season i ran 28:00. Throw in some training maybe 20 miles a week or less. Then i took nov. - jan off of running. Pick back up in february i got into some 50 mile weeks and ran 16:00 in the 5k (track). Over this past summer i had about 8 weeks of 70 miles a week, then over 70 durring the season. Most of this is slow however, over 7 min pace. Maybe a tempo a week around 6 min or less with one workout. Ive been doing the workouts fast and taking everything else pretty easy. Doing doubles 5 days a week one run a day will be over 8 min pace or right at it. Doing this the whole season im at 26 flat for 8k now, xc. After this weekend i will have 8 weeks to train on my own and im looking to run as fast as possible on the track. (5k/10k) I was thinking about cutting workouts for this time period and trying to get more miles ~90s, is one year enough time running to get 90 mile weeks? Can someone help me out with training ideas and or comments on my current plan? And any suggestions to help me out?????
