Korir and Amos was good suggestions. Also some of the all time greats of 800m mentioned.
But maybe great middle distance athletes isn´t the only way to go?
If you take a great 5000m runner like Haile Gebreselassi that does posess natural speed and train 100m specific training? He would have some room for this and still be able to make 13:30 with pacemakers and super shoes.
Or if you took a very fast sprinter that still is fairly light and effecient and do the opposite? Van Kniekerk maybe?
The would both be very hard to beat in a fast but still tactical middle distance race but even If athletes like that would come close to 10.5, 13:30 I actually think that they would struggle against the very best middle distance runners or great 3000m runners in a time trail.
