is that the women's WR that's closest to the men's WR in running?
W - 1:02:52 (3,772 seconds)
M - 57:32 (3,452 seconds)

I’m pretty sure she can win the tour de france 7 times.

30. Thomas De Bock (Bel) 1:03:25 (2:11:54/Enschede 2021)
32 D.Boulvin (Bel) 1:03:37 (13:50/28:45) his 10,000 from French champs in 2021.
We can see from this and we saw it in the Seven Hills 15km that Gidey can hold her own against international B level marathon runners and half marathon runners. If Gidey were a man she would get on a huge number of national teams...
B lister? She tied with Javier Guerra, who is a 2:07:27 marathoner. 5th all time for Spain. Only three Americans have ever run the marathon faster than him.
What does one need to run to be an A lister?
I think she is ready to run 2:08.
Just to add another crazy stat to the list, this also means Gidey has the de-facto 1 Hour Run world record now, because even if she just got to 20K (which we have a split time for, 59:45) and came to a complete stop for 15 seconds, she would still have beaten the old record of 18.9K by Sifan Hassan from last year:

Sifan Hassan better watch out. Looks like Giday is going to snatch that 10000m crown right back. Sparks are going to fly the next time these two athletes meet.
Can't snatch back what you never had.
…so Ron Clarke (ish) level

Half Marathon time 62:52
old HM WR 64:02 Ruth C
This was a nice video. But just a note, Gidey isn't the first woman to hold the 5K, 10K, & HM WRs simultaneously, Ingrid Kristiansen did from 1989 to 1991 (her 1:06 was on an aided course but she later ran a 1:08:32 WR in another race).
I’m really intrigued to know what she realistically could run over the full marathon distance. Mainly because it’s the only WR she doesn’t already have. 2:13 seems realistic to me, but even Kosgei nearly dipped below 2:14. Maybe 2:12 low? I’d be really curious to see how her body handles the longer distance. Her mechanics are so efficient and her form is really beautiful to watch.

That was incredible to watch, I really didn't think a sub 63 would happen for at least a few years but WOW was I wrong! I'm kinda speechless right now I don't know what to say. I guess the supershoes are really showing their dominance now, but a 62:50 in supershoes is way better than whatever it was pre-supershoe.
Shoes? Sure. PED'S. For sure.
I pity you. It must be sad living a life like yours.

Totally awesome. What's in store next? And she has many more productive years ahead of her!
Despite all of the justified gushing, this is not really a 'Beamonesque' moment. Beamon's Mexico City WR improved the old record by over 6% and stood for 23 years.
But this is certainly not a one-off effort like Beamon's. The gauntlet has been thrown down before Hassan!

2:12 Maybe 2:11 NOW, she is still young enough to improve

Right now, she could go sub 2:10. In another year, 2:08. Faster if Nike does a project similar to sub 2.
Hilarious seeing all of these running BETAS on LRC so triggered over a woman who is fast and beautiful running times they can only run in their dreams when they fall asleep at their treadmill desk!
@ bartholomew - Well said.

At least it doesn't include PED'S.

If Gidey were a man she would get on a huge number of national teams. I only scanned a few results and best times for many of these runners around Gidey. I am convinced that she can run under 14 minutes and 29 minutes on the track. I also think that within the next 2 to 3 years she could reach a marathon level of between 2:10:00-2:12:00.
I cast my mind back to the late 70s when female international runners were given super credit for running around 15:30/32:00. Not anymore.
So she's running as fast as a man. But that isn't a red flag here.

It isn't the shoes but something much more potent.

Time will tell.
We’ll see what happens over the next 25 years.
I don’t think it will matter in 10 years… the bar has been set and there will be others… likely from east Africa.
I believe they have a genetic and environmental advantage which they will have for a long time.
The only record I doubt is Paula Radcliffe’s marathon time…
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
