Over 1 minute WR! Her 15K split was only a few seconds off her 15K best! Women's HM has to be the biggest development in the supershoe era.

That was incredible to watch, I really didn't think a sub 63 would happen for at least a few years but WOW was I wrong! I'm kinda speechless right now I don't know what to say. I guess the supershoes are really showing their dominance now, but a 62:50 in supershoes is way better than whatever it was pre-supershoe.

Shoes? Sure. PED'S. For sure.
Her Half marathon WR in Valencia is equivalent to a 2:11 marathon and 4:02 mile... let that sink in. She earned it!
Gidey splits according to tracking & live broadcast:
5K: 15:00 (1:03:17 pace)
10K: 29:45 (1:02:45 pace)
15K: 44:29 (1:02:33 pace)
Finish: 1:02:50 ish
The splits are glitching out so I'm not sure how accurate, but wow. This was way better than anyone predicted, we were saying it was silly that the RD even mentioned a 1:02 was possible.
Time is 1:02:52 officially according to broadcast:

the 2nd place on that list is obviously an error (pacer?).
LRC note. Yes, 2nd is a pacer. Here are deep results.

weird.

Have either of you ever run a half marathon?
Lol. Clown show.
My recap is done. I'm going back to bed. I told the guys waking up now to make that woman a black page. Wow.

Armstronglivs has never run a race.
He is a useless cynic who calls every fast runner a doper. Oh, unless they are white, from the British Commonwealth, and preferably raced before the 1990s.

Just another doper. That's why no one cares beyond a handful of diehards.

But there's nothing surprising about women now running at the speed of males in a doped sport.

Not at cheetah speed. But that's ok. It's all just the shoes. And modern training. But it is kind of puzzling that the best dopers in the past were nowhere near as fast ....
I also remember Gidey getting destroyed by Hassan and another no-name runner in the 10k in the Tokyo Olympics. She has certainly found the answer since. Wonders never cease with today's record-breakers. I'll bet modern science over natural ability any day.
To answer Rojo's question, is this the greatest performance ever? Bolt's 9:58 and Warholm's WR both score higher than Gidey's HM. I tend to think endurance performances are more impressive but I'm biased.
The only comparable performance is Radcliffe's 2:15. I still rate Radcliffe's higher - in both cases, the had male pacers almost to the finish. But Radcliffe did it in big standard racing flats. In Vaporfly's, her 2:15 becomes 2:12-2:13.
I'm hesitant to predict anything for Gidey in the full marathon. She looks awesome but we need to see if she is just an awesome threshold runner, she could be another Tadese. It's all speculation for now, but my guess is she debuts in 2:16-2:17 rather than anything crazy. The marathon still needs special respect.
Damn autocorrect
