I have taken Adderall daily (prescription) for years and I wouldn’t recommend taking it before a workout. If you don’t take Adderall regularly even a small dose will can give you some odd side effects, e.g. palpitations, blood vessel restriction, increased blood pressure, muscle tension etc. None of that seems like it would help a workout and it might be dangerous. Even if you are used to taking Adderall it might be dangerous. I have ended up doing workouts pretty soon after taking a dose and I mostly noticed elevated heart rate, e.g. ~20 bpm higher than I would expect for a given workout. In hot weather it is even worse and you are asking for trouble. The last thing I will say is that Adderall just doesn’t enhance the feeling if running for me. One reason I enjoy my run after a day of sitting at the desk working in the computer is that it sort of snaps me out of the focused, goal driven mindset that Adderall gets me in. The only circumstance I could see it being helpful would be in a very long ultra distance race. Seems like it would be very dangerous but it might help with energy. It would also be totally unethical.
