Very well stated, Chicago. On the RGB anti-kneeling thing, my favorite bit of that was Couric trying to explain it away by saying RGB was very old and may not have understood the question. …imagine the implications that brings about someone on the Supreme Court! I don’t think it was accurate, of course, it was just an excuse Couric was making to try and maintain the narrative - but that shows again how maintaining the narrative is more important than anything else, including logical consistency. If RGB couldn’t understand a basic interview question, then she was unfit to remain on SCOTUS, but progressives were desperate for her to remain on SCOTUS and defended her for years against right-wingers who attacked her on health/fitness grounds. It’s totally reasonable to have believed that she was mentally fit to serve, but happened to have had a single point of disagreement with progressive orthodoxy re: the kneeling issue. But no, the elite/media tack is this split-brained position where she is totally fit to serve, but also too old to understand a basic question, because that’s better for their narrative (“kneeling is heroic and people who question it are white supremacist morons”), even if doesn’t make sense. They don’t want you to consider the one “fact” (understanding basic questions) in reference to the other “fact” (fitness to serve), they should be believed separately from one another - and that’s insane.
Yes, I’m sure you do and that’s a very common reaction.
One of the outcomes of modern day society’s subjectivism along with the access to a plethora of media and news outlets that can reflect about any world view you wish to find is that you can almost create your own reality by only surrounding yourself with common minded media and news-outlets.
If interested a book called History Has Begun: The Birth of a New America by Bruno Maçães came out last year that goes into depth about this phenomenon.
I was almost in agreement with you until you threw in the MSNBC stuff. The only media out let further from center is the Huff and Puff News outlet, else MSNBC is the winner by far. Morning Joe has even jumped the shark and I used to like listening to him. No more....
CNN leans left because it drives on the Brit side of the road....ha, ha.
Yeah, I don't remember seeing a single piece on CNN about lab leak being anything more than racist conspiracy until it was basically undeniable that it was a legit theory. If they were fair and listening, there would have been a few opinions on that side they would have run. But there was a narrative.
CNN isn't crazy liberal, but they do have a very clear narrative they want to push. I remember when Gupta was staring at a live field of the Golden Gate Bridge that had a few people walking over it (with masks, outside) and he spent 10 minutes talking about how irresponsible it was. But he was silent during the BLM protests. Turns out, it's pretty safe to be outside without a mask. But he was interested in narrative.
Jon Stewart made a pretty good point about "cancel culture" in a recent interview:
“People that talk about cancel culture never seem to shut the f#ck up about it,” offered Stewart. “Like, there’s more speech now than ever before. It’s not ‘you can’t say it,’ it’s that when you say it—look, the internet has democratized criticism. What do we do for a living—we talk sh#t, we criticize, we postulate, we opine, we make jokes, and now other people are having their say. And that’s not cancel culture, that’s relentlessness. We live in a relentless culture. And the system of the internet and all those other things are incentivized to find the pressure points of that and exacerbate it.”
Bari Weiss rails against cancel culture as a way to insulate herself from getting ripped on the internet for writing idiotic garbage like her article about Australians were immune to divisive politics because it is a sunny and nice place. Bari Weiss was never cancelled. She quit the NYT after seeing several journalists move from legacy media to substack/patreon and make a lot of money while being free of having to answer to editors and colleagues over the quality and content of their work. She basically self cancelled to make herself into a cancel culture martyr because she was such a lousy and irrelevant writer that she couldn't actually work up enough outrage against her work to actually get fired from the NYT.

strange in germany twitter banned german politicians for posting official police statistics about immigrants being overrepresented in crime. of course stewart feels this way. he is part of the people doing the censoring and being able to freely rip other perspectives.

That is just not true. Yes CNN leans left, but just barely. CNN, ESPECIALLY ITS WEB SITE, offers up Conservative opinion pieces, has written tons of articles critical of Biden and other Democrats, etc. This mantra that CNN is the left equivalent of Fox News is just BS. There is no left-wing equivalent to the right "alternative facts" that is Fox News. Not even MSNBC is close to the bias that Fox has.

MSNBC is the most biased on the left, but even it does not compare to the crap that Fox News spews. It just doesn't.

I’m guessing you lean left so obviously you will see CNN or MSNBC as more unbiased than conservative Fox.
Spend a few days and compare the front pages of the CNN and Fox News or MSNBC and National Review. It’s not only very telling on how they report on a subject but what they choose to report on and what they choose to leave out.
99.999% of "cancel culture" is just desperate blog writers trying to generate traffic or self-promote, mostly through outrage which we all know sells the best.

CNN is pretty unbiased because it's mostly just been reduced to shouting matches and feigns of incredulity (to an embarrassing extent) between the same old tired pundits.
Fox News is literally and unapologetically the media arm of the GOP. It exists solely to promote the GOP and they receive GOP approved talking points which they're expected to parrot and strategies straight from Capitol Hill.

CNN is not unbiased.
Both Fox and CNN consist of pundits regurgitating the same talking points. Whether it’s Don Lemmon and Chris Cuomo or Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.
CNN is absolutely the media arm of the Democratic Party as Fox is for the Republicans.
Don’t believe me? These are the front & top of page stories on CNNs website right now as I type this—
https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/21/politics/joe-manchin-party-switch-republican-democrat/index.htmlhttps://www.cnn.com/2021/10/21/politics/kyrsten-sinema-primary-challenge/index.htmlhttps://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2021/10/21/jim-jordan-trump-january-6-capitol-roll-the-tape-keilar-newday-vpx.cnnThey are either ripping on Republicans or the two Democrats who “stepped out of line”.

Well, you would be wrong.
Conservative Scott Jennings is a regular columnist and panelist for CNN. Jason Miller (and man, he's a BAD dude) was a regular panelist for years at CNN.
CNN's website regularly has had pieces critical of Biden. Van Jones has been critical of Biden. On Fox, Trump was doing absolutely batsh!t crazy stuff, and only Shep Smith (who had to leave) and Chris Wallace said boo about it.
You are not correct here.
