Not possible. You should be dead. No way you can get COVID and live.

Appreciate this reasonable advice to get this vaccine. Much better than the hysterical nonsense people spout off (Looking at you Harambe) that really does more harm than good pushing anyone with questions or doubts deeper to the anti-vax side.

Now all those pre- and post-race masking requirements don't seem so silly, do they? Good thing 95% of the field was vaccinated.
vaccination status has no effect in preventing spread, in fact is somewhat correlated with increased spread:

Mandates are necessary for safety.
Did you punch your teachers when they set a deadline for an assignment?
Or were you just too busy getting high?
i ran a local xc 5 mile probably with covid. this was on a wednesday evening. tested lft negative friday evening and had symptoms saturday so tested again - positive.
my daughter was working in a local pub every evening with cold symptms and testing negative by lft every day. she tested pcr positive the following monday.
we were given a false sense of security by false lft tests.
even on saturday when i tested positive and rang her at work, they said if her lft came back negative she could continue serving behinfd the bar.
You and your people are going to be responsible for many unnecessary deaths.
All because you run.
Congratulations.

You keep sharing that paper, but the author of that paper says you're wrong. The author actually says: “This paper supports vaccination as an important strategy for reducing infection and transmission, along with hand-washing, mask-wearing, and physical distancing.” And also: “Other research has clearly and definitively established that the vaccines significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and mortality.” So get vaccinated and mask up!

I sure hope you aren't the jerk who followed me and my friend clipping our heels for the ENTIRE race and never once took a turn at the front. At one point, I turned and asked if he was a good tipper because he was going to owe us for the free ride into Boston.
Funny, I thought this was a race.
I would wager a few hundred people ran covid positive. Take the medal and mind you're business.
Even when publishing under a pseudonym, Medium.com will not be able to shield the author, we just follow the money. Rarely fails..
Banned from all b.a.a. races, . Maybe they even strike the 2021 results.
Maybe banned from all abott majors for life. Kiss that 6 star goodbye.
Opened oneself up to a myriad of civil law suits, from basically anyone on the plane, hotel, bus, race, restaurants.

You are incorrect.
If the author followed the rules, was vaccinated/had negative test, and didn't have symptoms on race day, then good luck with those civil lawsuits.
And go fearmonger somewhere else.

Yes, we were racing for 1500th place.
There's a difference in racing competitively for a win and using that tactic, and clipping someone's heels multiple times for a mediocre time mid-pack. At least acknowledge you are a wheel sucker and give the stranger ahead of you enough space that you don't trip him, or maybe take a 30 second turn at the front over the course of 3 hours.
If you ran Boston this year, it was very different from past years with the rolling start and many people not following the bus loading/start guidelines. For the most part you were either passing or being passed the entire day. Normally, once the pace settles in there are larger groups of people running the same speed. This guy was stuck to me like a booger on a finger.

Every large race is a calculated risk.
If you're healthy enough to run marathons, you are at low risk. Period.

People are already trying to determine the authors identity. It won't be long.
Fearmonring, lol you don't even run. Probably some unemployed loser drooling over the Fox news cycle.

If you start marathon morning with a cough, you are neither healthy nor low risk.
I have never started any race morning of any distance with a cough.
Story and account deleted by the author. Fake news.
Found it in the google cache, an interesting read, not sure what else that guy could have gone. It's strange he had "full on" Covid being fully vaccinated and healthy. Running a marathon probably weakened his immune system though.
