Umm... ever heard of Brian Sell? 4:28/10:06 in high school. He initially went to a D3 school, but transferred to a D1 school, and became an All American. Ended up being an Olympian with 2:10:47 PB.
If he ran 3-4 years in HS at a typical training level there's no way he has those PRs. 10:06 is very slow compared to 4:28 which means he wasn't putting in much mileage. I was 4:30/9:28.
