People have real problems.
Yep, first-world problems for a lot of the elite American runners (male and female).

3 points that are all true:
1. Molly is a toxic feminist.
2. Molly is at the end of her career and wants to kick up dust to better position herself for a post-running gig (we've seen this with many other twilight female runners).
3. I used to think Molly was a "shut up and run" kind of runner and I was a fan. Then a few years ago I started seeing all her toxic feminist social media posts and I immediately stopped cheering for her and no longer considered myself a fan.
Thanks Molly!

Fame is a drug--that is why you see randos trying to go viral even if they only get their 15 minutes of fame and then disappear. Fame doesn't always bring money but it opens doors for a better life than before...
I.e. a runner doing a viral video or a kid doing a silly prank may have people laugh at him or her, but he or she could parlay that into a good middle-class job with connections. Even if none of them make huge $ or become Hollywood stars.

I guess it has come to the point where I used to root for Molly. I wish her well and enjoyed watching her career unfold from her high school days in Elmira, to her college running at ND, and finally as a successful pro. I find myself very much opposed to the politics of many elite runners and Hollywood stars. I actually am surprised how liberal most of the elites are.
Not all elites are, but most...even in Ohio (a red state) there are tons of blue runners. And some are very in-your-face about it, esp. in the 3 Cs (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati).

Someone responding to Molly's post on Twitter. This person nails it:
https://twitter.com/Badgergrrrl/status/1448011014436425728lol@ this. if we want to be real, there are plenty of boys who couldn't crack their d1 top 7 that would wipe the floor with the very best females the US has ever offered. This is weak smack talk.
Jamin, of all people, would be an olympic medalist if he was female.
The media won't come out and say it, but when you look at times, without accounting for gender or if you covered up the names, that makes sense.
Say if you're a high-14s or low-15s guy, that may be D2/D3 caliber running...that's about equivalent to US female elites. I may be slightly off with the exact times, but your point is rock-solid. Gwen J. and others, for instance, is a 15:30-16 female, I believe.

Have you genuinely just discovered that men's times are faster than women's times if you compare a similar level (Olympic, D1, club runner), etc?
You'll be amazed when you find out why this is. It's truly groundbreaking stuff.
Molly, you're really, really stretching the definition of misogyny. Take a step outside your privilege and look at the world around you.

The mods have skewed priorities and don’t care about policing the bad stuff, only the stuff they don’t like.
It usually takes a meta-post to get the worst threads taken down.
The community is 5-10X worse than it was 10 years ago but traffic must be way up! Letting your niche community go viral for bigoted spam is money maker clearly. Sad but true.
I just want to say I am a huge fan of female track and field. It is amazing what some of them do in their category. But they in no way resemble the open/male category. Just saying they are a bit out of place getting into a smack down over who is faster than who, who can make what team, etc.
And I'm not ashamed to say there are even local level girls in my age group who will dust me at this moment.

This is very true. And I say this coming from a position that nothing should be deleted outside of blatant homophobia, racism and other things of that nature.
should talk it over w/ her imaginary airplane friend.

Real American freak show on display in that Twitter conversation.
Odd how merely criticizing a woman's attempt to absolutely destroy a man over mean comments is 'misogyny', yet that line up can label everybody here as 'cave dwellers', have 'small wee wees' and claiming we are a danger to women.

Call me dumb but what exactly is a meta-post? (no sarcasm)
I do think it's funny that she went to Notre Dame, an establishment at least partially responsible for getting ACB on the big court which will harm women's reproductive rights among other things for many years to come. Way more impactful than LetsRun will ever be.

The community here was so much better 10, but especially 20 years ago. You had legit runners chasing 2:22 marathon qualifier times talking about training, you had JasonInAsia talking about training and his exploits (the best poster ever on this site IMO).
This site probably lost traffic due to other forms of social media, especially reddit advanced running.
The sh*t talking has always been here and is what has always made this site special.
We need less political threads and more running threads but less moderation to our running threads.

Perhaps you will find safer, more peaceful forums in other corners of the internet.
This is our world now. Sadly.
Anonymous vitriol on the web.
My advice: Come in, learn to sift through the garbage to find what you need, and leave.
No reason to be hopelessly optimistic about a notion of some perfectly lovely environment.
