I just ran the Philadelphia Broad Street Run 10 miler yesterday in my first mass participation race since the pandemic started. Anyway, I was shocked by how many people around me were wearing supershoes: mostly Nike but a lot of Saucony/adidas/Asics that I noticed. It must have been like 90% supershoes for the people running around me.
I liked running behind some Nike wearers, because they were bouncing along and motivating me to hold good, upright form.
I guess I have two questions:
(1) Does everyone around you race in supershoes? This is a noticeable change from 2 years ago.
(2) How much time did I leave on the table running 5:50/mile over 10 miles in clunky Altra Provision trainers? There will be another Broad Street Run in May 2022, so I'm wondering if I should join the crowd in supershoes.
