How fast is that course? Times are unbelievably fast
It's like running a track meet on grass. The inevitable comparisons will come when people start comparing today's times from Nuttycombe later today with the times from FSU. Nuttycombe's times will be significantly slower. It's a harder course and I believe that there will be some rain in Madison today. That said, I'm not trying to discount the times at FSU. They're great. I'm just pointing out how everyone likes to compare times from different courses and in XC it just can't be done.

Where is Carmie Prinsloo the FR from Arkansas in your top 20?
Doesn't look like it was her day. Thought top 20 was a stretch, but obviously a bad day for her today. Others on various teams seemed off as well. But some ran very well, such as the CO ladies.
FSU is a fast course. It’s the same course they use for HS states. Very fast course . Way faster than Nuttycomb
Abby Nichols is a stud. I remember when she was an undergrad at Ohio State and won the outdoor 5000 at the Big 10 championships. She totally shocked the field.

I bet, beating Gregory and O'Neal is pretty good. Covert close behind as well which is a big step up for her. This backs up what they did at OSU a month ago.
Probably still all that covid training, couldn’t be the new shoe tech.

Trippas is running tomorrow. He won an open race a couple weeks ago pretty easily. He should run well tomorrow.
Princeton is very underrated this year
Princeton men finished 7th, besting nationally ranked #20 Florida State (8th), #22 Alabama (9th), #28 Ole Miss (11th), and #30 Charlotte (17th). Ed Trippas as the Tiger #1, and the 5-person scoring spread was only 20 seconds. Yeah, they'll be ranked next week.

This is a travesty, not having a live stream for Pre-Nats of all races. It’s the perfect opportunity for NCAA to go through all the technical issues/ filming issues (where to park the cameras, where moves will happen etc) before Nattys in September.
I just hope to God that we don’t get piss poor coverage like we have been getting the past couple years. With lack of Pre-Nats coverage, we will probably get shoddy coverage.
Pre-Nats is just an invitational hosted by the nationals host. The NCAA has no control over it. Most likely a conflict with the ACC Network/ESPN who has the rights for all ACC member events. Hopefully they will show the replay?
Well, Wildschutt was very good again on his home course. There were outstanding times. You do not see a lot of sub 23s. Years ago, you did not even see a lot of sub 24s. Now there are multiple 22s on a hilly course. And Mantz, the eleventh year junior wins in 22:47! over Wildschutt, with NAU putting three in the top ten, with Drew Bosley realizing that potential he showed a couple years ago and finishing between Nur and Young. NAU, which scored 64, is a little weaker at 4-5 and beyond at this point, but George Kusche, more of a miler than xc runner, is solid at 20 just a few months into NAU training, and Theo Quax had what I think was easily his best run, certainly in xc, at NAU with 25th in 23:26. That is just a 31 second spread, so this was a very quality field to have him in 25th with that time and that close to the winner. NAU also showed a nice bench for future years in the open race where they won with 4-5-7-8-14 (15th overall) with a minuscule spread of 19 seconds from 24:20-24:39. Those boys (the three freshmen and a sophomore among their top five in the race) will need to drop time to contend in future years but this team's history tells you that some will drop a minute or more. Alabama's Victor Kiprop is the real deal, taking 3rd as a freshman in 22:54.8 over Nur.
Speaking of those future years, the eligibility on NAU is something. Of their top seven in the Garnet 8k, they finished soph-soph-freshman-junior-soph-jr-frosh. Add that to only one senior in the open top five, plus Colin Sahlman declaring for NAU next year, and they have the makings of some of the lowest scoring NCAA teams in decades for 2022-23-24.
Colorado 😳😎
Man, ND did not run 3 of their prospective top 7 (Nguse, Methner, Carmody.). As a former Domer runner , I know it’s all about peaking for Nationals but give us some fun, guys. I can see holding out Nguse, still, but unless Carmody and Methner are hurt, I’d love to see them and run the other frosh and soph in the open race. Woulda, shoulda, coulda, but they probably would have been close to NAU today. On to ACC, I guess

Uhhh no....they would not have been close to NAU. IF those 3 ran well, they would have been close to the CU/Arkansas/BYU scores, but there's no way they take 140 points off the team total. And considering AA ran meh and Renfree ran bad, assuming those 3 would all run well is a stretch.
As I mentioned, they peak for Natties but they would have put at least 2 of those guys in the top 25 and that would have taken off at least 80 points. All 3 run well and they would have taken off at least 100. But until they all run it’s like asking who would win a race around the world, Flash or Superman???
Well, lookee there. Utah women cruising into 2nd place team finish. The school that wasn't even in national rankings until two weeks ago. This sport ain't great at handicapping the horses.

Everyone claims they “peak for Natties”, and you said they would have been close to NAU today. My point is there is no way in hell that Nuguse, Methner and Carmody all beat Kilrea if they race today, which is what would have to happen for your statement to be accurate. That is not a comment regarding what I think will happen in 5+ weeks.
The big surprise for me is Drew Bosley of NAU only 13 seconds behind Mantz in 6th.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
