Never got around to posting last week as I was traveling early in the week, so posting a summary of the last 2 weeks below. Both weeks were solid. Volume slightly down due to having to miss a couple days due to travel, but still got some quality work in. I’m 8 weeks out from the goal race as of yesterday, so time to buckle down. I’m at a good place fitness-wise, just need to keep the ball rolling.
Week of 9/27 – 10/3: Total 64 miles in 6 days
Wednesday 9/29: 6 x .5 mile w/ .5 recovery. Averaged 2:50.7 (5:41 pace), shooting for 2:50 so right on pace. Consistent across the reps and felt good, very pleased with this workout.
Friday 10/1: 14 mile long run w/ 12 at 6:41 pace. Moved the long run up due to traveling, weird to do it on a weekday but got the work in. Progressed the pace well and felt strong.
Week of 10/4 – 10/10: Total 56 miles in 6 days
Thursday 10/7: 4 x 4 hill repeats (16 total). Did the first 3 of each set as sprints of about .1 mile at 5:30-ish pace, 4th on each rep was about .25 of climbing around 6:00 pace. First true hill workout in a couple years, but also haven’t done a truly flat run in that same time (perks of living in WV)
Sunday 10/10: 14 mile long run w/ 12 at 6:29 pace. Very pleased with this long run, wasn’t necessarily planning to run that quick but the faster pace was coming to me naturally and I just rolled with it as I felt good.
