yes it should. everyone i know that uses has done so much with their lives.
none of them live in their mom's basement and all of them have high powered jobs.

It's legal to be drunk but not high?
think about how much money our economy saves (and thus the gov't makes) by keeping people from becoming loser do-nothing hippies and all of the other BS that would caused by legalized pot.
great reasons for legalizing mj:
duh, it's no worse than alcohol and it's legal
tobacco is worse for you and it's legal, duh-h-h-h-h
it's mind boggling how incredibly often this brilliant logic is used to rationalize yet one more stupid mistake...
we ****** ** 10 million times already. let's do it again!
real smart--the world will defintely be a better place with legalized marijuna. you think more people won't be using it if it's legal? if you think not you'd better think again. legal=more users. this blows a huge hole in all the other lame pro-legalize arguments combined.
as long as i'm at it i want a demo of what this "responsible" drug use looks like. it makes me want to throw up almost as much as those beer commercials telling you to drink responsibly. sure. gettin' loaded really helps your abilty to make good sound decisions. uh, huh.
got any ideas for some nice catchy marijuana ads?
WHOOOOOOOOOOOO 420, DUDE PARTY, WHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nope. all it is does is waste time and make idiots of those who use it. see: this thread.

ABC News reports that 38% of American adolescents smoked pot compared to just 20% of Dutch adolescents.
Furthermore, criminalization only creates a black market pot, putting mroe money into other illegal activities. If you were to legalize drugs you would be cutting out the drug dealer.
Additionally, how much motivation does the illegality of pot or other such drugs discourage you from using them? Did Prohibition really cut down on alcohol consumption?
"The Department of Health and Human Services reports that over 13 million Americans used illicit drugs in 1998, and of those illicit drugs, heroin, considered by many to be the hardest and most addictive drug available, was used by nearly a million Americans. That’s nearly double the number of heroin users from just five years before."
so that report convinced you, did it? not that i think we should go back to prohibition, but a lower percentage of people drank during than after. of course a lot of people still drank, even though it was illegal, but nowhere near as many as when they did away with prohibition. you guys can say what you want but you'll have a hard time convincing me that you wouldn't toke up more often if they legalized it. not only that, but at least a few people would start who never tried it before. i used to smoke dope. i know the game. sometimes it was real hassle scoring a bag. it would have taken me a lot longer to finally let go of it if it was legal, and i would have smoked more while i was still using. maybe you guys are differnt. screw those so called studies. they don't mean **** and you know it.
so there are legal substances that are worse. big deal. smokin weed is no ****** good for you, especially if you are a runner. you know ****** well it isn't. i kept doing it until it was real clear to me that it was screwing me up in many ways. if i never got any signals i'd probably still be doing it. so go ahead, if it's not clear to you, wait until it is. you don't need to come up with all those ******* rationalizaions.

I'm guessing you weren't using a vaporizer when you were using.
Marijuana is not for everyone, the point being made is that it shouldn't be a crime to make that decision.
George Washington is partially responsible for the growing of hemp in the US. It used to grow wild all over, he was all for it being a cash crop. First US flag was made from hemp.
MJ was made illegal partially due to racism, during the Great Depression. There were a lot of Mexican workers in the south and that was fine when there were jobs going around. Once the depression hit, no one wanted to see all these Mexicans in the breadlines, having to compete with them for jobs and resources. The majority of them smoked marijuana, so by making it illegal they could easily jail them/deport them without any bother.
Then once it was illegal they created a large variety of scare tactics to try to and prevent people from trying it. Maybe you've seen or heard of the famous "Reefer Madness" movie that shows ridiculous things happening to anyone who uses....even becoming incurably insane!
It should be a basic human right to f*** one self up or not if we choose. I have smoked weed for well over 40 years and I still get up in the morning and go to work, take care of my kids, do what I need to and it has never cause even the smallest of problems, not even a single stop by the police or an arrest or a ticket. And unlike my father and mother I do not drink and I don't kick the s*** out of my kid or my wife when high. And once you get used to it vapor is the way to go.
BTY it looks like Denver passed ref 100. the SAFER one.
You fail to acknowledge the fact that prohibition more or less created organized crime -- which could then venture into prostitution, racketeering, narcotics, money laundering, etc.Drug companies who (correctly) say pot as a cheap, inexpensive and home-produced alternative to their own product -- legal pot damaged their profits.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marijuana
Furthermore, is it not my body? If it is perfectly legal for me to sit in my room and drink enough alcohol to destroy my liver and die in my own vomit, why not with other drugs? Surely we can recognize that anyone who operates machinery/vehicles while under the influence of any such drug is putting others at risk (the same principle applied to alcohol and prescription drugs) -- so why not the others?
But what's the point of trying to argue with you -- instead of addressing facts you dismiss them -- akin to saying, "I don't give a shít what these 'so-called' geologists say -- the earth sure seems flat to me."
yeah, i guess it's that silly ol' "listen to your body" argument that i keep falling for. what were those facts again? maybe if i'd used a vaporizer it would have helped...hmmmm...might have solved the lung thing, but what about those memory glitches and screwed up relationships: "i don't like it when you're stoned..." any of you guys ever hear that one? of course i could have used more responsibly. maybe that was the problem. i was just so ****** irresponsible when i smoked weed. i don't know why that was. i guess i was just no good at it. most people are probably very responsible when they toke up. it's a good thing i quit alright.
a lot of people quit drinking, too.
I know I for one, cannot handle drinking.
Alcoholism is big in my family, thankfully neither of my parents drink, and whenever I start to feel even slightly intoxicated by alcohol I want to increase the intoxication more and more. I always get way too drunk, always make bad decisions, I'll spend a lot more money than I meant to, say stuff I don't really mean, and to top it off I'll usually wake up with a hangover. It's just so much easier to lose control.
sure--it's good for you wrote:it's a good thing i quit alright.
sure, it could have been a good thing for you personally to quit. just like it could be a good thing for kids to go to college, or a good thing for me not to have indiscriminate sex, or a good thing for some guy in Texas to buy a cell phone so his Mom can call him to remind him to wash behind his ears. in none of these cases should government legislation affect our decisions.
"perfectly legal for me to sit in my room and drink enough alcohol to destroy my liver" it might not be much longer if row / wade is overturned on the basis that there is not right to privacy
Denver just legalized posession of up to 1 ounce of pot!!! This is a great victory for the city and hopefully will set a precedent for cities around the country to follow.
NO!
What a great victory!...now pass the chips, I've got the munchies dude. Oh yeah...power to the people!............ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
