I think no way
This is what the result would look like if they scored 7 points:
Individual Results:
1. Newbury Park - 1
2. Newbury Park - 2
3. Newbury Park - 3
4. Newbury Park - 4
5. Newbury Park - 5
6. Newbury Park - 6
7. Newbury Park - 7
Team Results:
1. Newbury Park - 7
NXN is canceled. And a perfect score is 15 points.
So no, and no.
7 is not a possible score.
Maybe you are referring to football nationals?
7 is a possible score in that case.

15 points is not good for a team score. It's just not good.
What if they all tied for 1st? Would they get 1 point or 7 points.

5, since only first 5 finishers for each team score

It means their top 4 would need to tie for 1st and their 5th would need to finish 3rd.

They would get 9 points with that scenario.
15 because each runner scores 3 if first 5 tie.

I'm just a big fan of running who's trying to get to the bottom of things.

Technically, they can have an incomplete score of 7 points (one runner is 3rd, another runner is 4th) but it would require 5 other runners to DNF.
Otherwise, if 5 scoring runners finish, no. They cannot.
7/10

No matter who ties, if you have the top 5 runners, it is 15 points.
If 4 runners are tied for 1st, they would split 1, 2, 3, & 4 for each.
And then the next runner is 5th.

Technically, Illinois with Craig Virgin, scored a "1" back in the 70s.

Not true. Only runners on teams with 5 finishers will receive a score. If ony 2 runners from a team finish, neither will get any points.
