The second coming of Pre. Will be seeing STOP Ety t-shirts next year.
I forgot this Letsrun and he’ll be accused of doping. But my guess is he’ll have a bad race and will go home devistated and will be done.
Kenyan athletes do not have a good track record with regard to being honest about their age when they are claiming to be juniors. What we get are athletes who have risen to a competitive world level for the first time. They are on the rise and often do continue to get better but just not usually on the five to eight year progression you see from athletes from countries where birth registration is universal. Kenya has only very recently gotten over 50% and many births still take place outside of hospitals. There are numerous incentives for lying about your age, including in signing with agents and getting meets where youth is thought to be an indicator of potential. Etyang was very good this year and who knows what he can do in the future? He should drop several seconds at least.
As for Kiprop, he did run 3:26. 3:26.69 to be precise. But he was also doping and was finally caught.
Guy is young in the sport and has already finished 2nd at the senior level. Who even knows if he would've competed at World Juniors had he been able to compete in the Olympics.
Point being, once he finished 2nd in 3:33.0 at altitude who even cares about unproven age lying accusations. He is one to watch period, and he hasn't even raced outside of Kenya yet.
Between him, World Junior Champ Keter, the return of Elijah Manangoi, Simotwo, Timothy Cheruiyot and Kipsang the 1500m team in Kenya might be harder to get a spot on then the podium in Eugene. Though, Tim's DL/World Champs win gets Kenya 4 spots.

The funniest part of this isn't even the 3.26.00/7.20.67 claim.
It's that this guy claims he is 18

Quite tired of this from posters like you and others. Let’s get the thinly veiled racism off LRC.
poster 1: this guy claims he is 18. haha yeah, okay

like I said, calling it like I see it. appreciate your concern tho.
hard for you to understand until you remove your goggles, but that's okay.
everyone learns at their own pace, wish you the best :)
He's definitely one to watch in 2022, but not in the same league as Leed's Mike Salter.

Those are some bold words from Etyang, who was 2nd at the Kenyan Trials this year but didn't get to go to Tokyo due to not have enough drug tests.
Remember at the Kenyan Trails he beat, Timothy Cheruiyot and Abel Kipsang, who would go on to finish second and fourth in the Olympic final. That being said, he didn't end up winning World Jrs. Battling a hamstring injury, he crossed the line 3rd but was Dqd.

Of course he can. As he is a Kenyan he probably dopes just as much as they did. Kenya is only second to Russia for the world's most doping busts.
Lets talk about Real Deal : 21-yr old Norwegian is able to run sub 3:30 1500 sub 13' 5000 and sub 7'30" 3000 . The only other man able to do so was Daniel Komen. By the way that Norwegian guy is also 2020 , 1500 Olympic Champion
He's about to turn 19. My prediction: he probably breaks 3:26 in a few years, but 7:20, I feel, is a bridge too far.
Delighted at the bright middle-distance prospects for Kenya on display at the World U20s in Nairobi. Kamar Etyang (1500m), Vincent Keter (1500), Emmanuel Wanyonyi (800m) and Noah Kibet (800m). Both events are about to be LIT!

So busting Kenyans for doping is a racist act? WADA is so racist. But they like to bust Russians, too, who are white as far as I can tell.

No. You haven't busted a single Kenyan that I'm aware of. But bringing your sunny kiwi personality to these discussions. - branding every single Kenyan athlete an automatic doper even though less than 1% have been popped for ADRVs; insinuating that every Kenyan is inherently dishonest, devoid of integrity, generally lacking a sense of right and wrong, and inclined to deception and subterfuge, whilst holding up your fellow kiwis (and other white Anglo-Saxons) as paragons of honour, is indeed racist.
Then again, I've told you, it isn't surprising coming from your kind.
I'm really happy he has a Kenyan coach and hasn't fallen into foreign recruiters. The NCAA would've killed whatever potential he has and burnt him out. Poor Ed Cheserek will forever be a cautionary tale.

You are not called a racist for busting some Kenyans for doping. Your reading comprehension seems to be worse than I thought.
He looks younger than Cole Hocker, that's for sure. And Hocker ran 3:31, so why shouldn't he run at least a couple of seconds faster?
Shooting your mouth off on Komen’s record is ill advised for just about anyone unless you like eating crow. It will eventually get broken but no one can predict when or who. The Guerrouj mile is nearly at the same level. His 1500 3’26” will likely be the first to get broken among those three WRs but anyone who can potentially do it knows enough to be respectful enough to not brag talk about it.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
