Info from Norway tells Moen has split apart with Canova.

I get not wanting to be with Canova after not that good results over a long time, but I'm not sure if he will be as professional as he can be with his current team. Bit yes-men ish. But if it makes him happier.

Meh, Moen is a flake. I can imagine it would be difficult to coach someone like that. His best days are behind him.
Maybe JS can work his magic!

It is interesting that you mention this because I think that a hybrid version of the DANCAN system with tweaks in the system and extra mileage to bring it up to a higher grand total might be a decent recipe for the high achieving Norwegian champion who was still brave enough to toil to the finish in the Olympic games in a time not becoming of him with two hours and 17 minutes. Running 2/2 marathons back to back in 104 and 102 indicates that he’s getting back to quite good form and that we could see him running around 2:07 or 2:08 in a full marathon in the fall.
It is indeed very regrettable that he decided to leave the famous Italian coach, Renato Canova, but because Moen has always liked to basically follow his own path it was probably for the better as he does not like being controlled fully by other coaches or people.
He is the master of rational thinking, the Norwegian.
It is strange that someone commented that he is a “flake” which I’m not sure is an accurate Termanology for this Norwegian superstar.
We now think that perhaps Swedish guru Coach JS will approach the Norwegian to offer his services as a standby but whether the Norwegian accepts this proposal or not remains to be seen. Running has never been an exact science and different approaches work for different people with varying degrees of success.
Typo:” Running 2/2 marathons back to back in 104 and 102 indicates that he’s getting back to quite good form and that we could see him running around 2:07 or 2:08 in a full marathon in the fall. ”
Correct:” Running two half marathons back to back in 1:04/1:02” etc
Typo: “ Termanology”
Correct” Terminology/description”
Sorry - when you dictate messages to the iPad using SIRI Voice recognition, the result is often rather far from perfect and constant editing is required. My bad for not checking.
Moen on his 20 mile long run at a pace of around six minutes per mile or 345 per kilometer. Superb stylist. Norway it seems is the perfect country to live in with basically no poverty and a very civilized society. Similar to Sweden in some ways but Sweden is much more heterogeneous because of incoming migrants compared with Norway which has much less Incoming migration from developing countries. The caveat with Norway is that it is very unaffordable for most visitors unless they have a job there whereas Sweden is much more affordable overall. No wonder many Norwegians choose to do their shopping in Sweden.

And turn Moen into a 2:20 marathoner! I am sure that would come naturally with the DANCAN'T system.

Then you haven’t been paying attention.
Unlikely that Moen would make such a wierd choice

OK going by your name I think you’re Norwegian, like the famous cross country ski superstar. Could you show some examples of where Moen has an unusual approach to training and racing and life in general because I and many others maybe are not aware of this. I’ve seen quite a few videos of this runner and he always seems to be very rational composed and analytical in his approach to running and training in general so I was a little bit surprised by that comment but perhaps he is “flaky” in a good way, like many geniuses who hone their skills in an original way and who respond to the beat of a drum which does not resonate for everybody. On a personal level I’m impressed that someone with a body structure almost of a soccer player with huge legs can run so economically and well in the marathon and also in the 10,000 m.
The Norwegian who ran 60:00 in Denmark recently is of a totally different body structure, as someone of east African descent and going by his name probably Eritrean. That guy has such an economical stride it is almost mesmerizing and when you watch him run it looks like he’s almost jogging such is his perfect economy. The point I’m trying to make is that Moen does not possess an optimal jockey type body structure for long-distance running and the marathon but despite this has achieved an incredibly high level.
Moen, the guy who moved away from his parents when he was 17-18 yrs old to train in Kenya is a flake. Ok..

Is the son of a gun pushing that carnitine on his athletes?

I`m convinced I can get him back to 2:05-2:06 marathon , but I`m not sure I would like to help him .Could only happen
if I was asked to coach him and he was bound to a contract to follow the DANCAN system to the letter......
Why? Well.....It looks like he is a bit stubborn and thinks he knows best. I had a chat with him back in 2015 before Canova became his coach. I tried to explain to him that he needed to speed up his normal easy runs. Then his exact words were ; " I have been over 20 times in Kenya to see how one should train . It`s not some Hokus Pokus... "
Well.... at this time Sondre was known to run relatively slow at his normal easy runs. What happened then when Canova started to coach him? Exactly what I told Sondre to change Canova prescribed to him and his race times quite fast improved.
Why did Sondre decide to leave Canova?Or was it Canova that no longer wanted to coach him? Or another cause of different nature? Who knows? Maybe Renato can make a visit here and explain?
Maybe Canova`s obvious mistake to "cook" Sondre in training two months before the Olympics has something to do with it? Interesting.......

Hahaha! )) There is a big difference between me and Sondre in that case. He thinks he knows best.... I know I know best ;) LoL
Don't know why no one has mentioned this, but didn't he leave Nike? I don't suspect Canova is allowed to coach him anymore. If I'm Nike, and paying Canova, I wouldn't want Moen to succeed now. Certainly wouldn't want to see him run better than ever. Definitely wouldn't let my star coach help in any way.
Go asics!
