Nuguse thinks his 400m speed is the same as Murphy? In what world is that realistic? Does he fancy himself a 1:42 guy??

Is that unreasonable for me to think he can't run that fast? I doubt Hocker could even run 46.
Listen to his answer when asked what he could run in an open 400m: <iframe src="

What would be a reasonable answer for Yared and also for Hocker? I think Yared would be a second or two behind what Hocker could run.
Yours truly,

How about just showing up healthy to the Olympic starting line, blowhard?

I’d be surprised if there were any sub 3:35 guy in history who could go under 47.0 in an open 400. Maybe Ryun
Marcin Lewandowski. Anyone want to place bets on any current 1500m runner beating him to the line in an open 4, even now that he's aged well past his prime as a 4/8 guy? As prolific a kick as he possesses, Lewandowski's lifetime best at 400m is 47.76. He's never been good for a 46 and none of his contemporaries are, either.
The greatest middle distance runner (800m to mile) in history, Seb Coe ran 46 for 400m.
Ngoose ain’t running 46, especially with that limp, goofy running technique.
No way. I'd be surprised if he broke 50. He is more of a 1500/5k type. 46 is elite 800m speed.
Ikr lmao, with 46 and 3:34 I’d wager he’s focusing on the wrong events
You know, people say stuff all the time. Wasn't there a triathlete that said she could win an Olympic marathon?
48 high to 49 mid
No chance in hell he could ever sniff 46.99

Thats cold blooded
What the story from him not racing at the Olympics? Was he sick, injured, scared?
When did he decide not to complete? Why?
Seems like there should be some kind of statement of explanation and apology. He’s representing the US.
Seems like there’s nothing about him and the Olympics and beyond. Then, he’s bragging about believing he can run 46 for 400m. I doubt he can even run at that pace for 100m, which would be 11.5.
If a man is capable of sub-1:43 800m, IMO a man is capable of F.A.T. 400m no slower than 47.49, F.A.T. sub-47.50 even if no official 400m time is available.
There have been 39 sub-1:43 800m outdoors. Several 1:43 800m men are also sub-3:35 1500m men.
Most of the names stated on this thread as possible sub-47 400m men, do not have a chance of racing sub-47 400m, Hocker, Nuguse, I've heard people say Jim Ryun had sub-47 400m potential. I say b.s. I cannot say Jim Ryun was a faster 400m man than Nick Symmonds or Steve Ovett. If Ryun were that fast, he never would have been bothered 1500m or one mile, except for variety every now and then.
Well say all you want, but Nuguse has beaten Hocker and also pipped Teare to the line in 1500m, scalped Fischer, Hoare and Kiprotich in the last 50m, so he definitely isn't a slow finisher.
I say Hocker could sniff 47 low, while Teare, Nuguse and Centro are good for 48 low at best.

A rising fastball in baseball is usually an optical illusion, so is a kick in T&F, often an illusion. Cole Hocker saves something for final 300m, it just appears to be fast sprinting. If Cole Hocker had decided to run stride for stride with J. Ingebrigtsen & T. Cheruiyot, first 1200m of Olympic 1500m final, do you believe Hocker would have had a kick in him? Of course not. Hocker ran off the pace, saved himself something at the end. Hocker is a high 47.xx guy at best. He'll never break 1:45, 800m. Do you really believe low 47.xx 400m guys are skipping 800m for 1500m? Some of the best 400m men rarely break 12 seconds, final 100m of 400m race. Cole Hocker has raced final 100m sub-12 of 1500m races, am I correct? Many 400m guys save nothing for final 100m, Cole Hocker saves something for final 100m of 1500m races.
True, and yet at the same time I do believe that 95% of 3:35 guys could beat McSweyn in a 400m dash. Also, beat him in the last straight if he wouldn't run away and "save something" for it.
Lot's of milers train additionally for the kick with hard repetitions of 100-150-200m (I used to). Maybe therefore the pure speed. On the other hand, a good 800m requires specific training and hard 200-250-300m intervals. If you don't train that, no way you will be a good 800m runner, even if you're a good miler AND ALSO have a good 400m speed.
How much do you wanna bet?
Brazier has run 46 indoor. He also has run 3:35. So he obviously cold run 45 outdoor in a good race. Why would anyone not believe a smart kid who is one if the top runners in the NCAA? Nuguse wouldn't make say something without having been in the neighborhood during practice.

Uhm, Brazier made something of saying he wanted to lineup in the open 400. ....And he also thinks he can be an NFL wide receiver following his stint in T&F.
Yes, I'd say Goose is in the same mindset as another Tokyo no show.
Delusional, they call it.
Uhm, I don't care if Brazier thinks he can fly. He ran 46 indoor and he ran 3:35. You seem to have a hard time dealing with facts.

Exactly! Nuguse is 49 at best. 46? LOL.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
