And you can expand that beyond the US too. Barega a shadow of himself, the best m800 post Tokyo guy is a dude who couldn't make the final. Muir and Reekie off the boil so far. Hassan couldn't barely split her 10000m pb pace in a 5000 and has cancelled her next race.
Everyone is exhausted. Brutal two years to be a pro track athlete
Except Kate Grace. Kate is not burnt out.
Dani Jones just ran 8:40.01, by far her best PR.
Monson ran the same time the day before in Paris, essentially equivalent to her 5000/10000 PRs. Monson is looking like a major replacement for some waning stars in the distances. Ritz must be over the moon.
Ban Jerry. No toleration for doping athletes and their coaches.
What evidence is there that Jerry dopes his athletes? Shelby's clean and none of the other athletes have tested positive despite being tested almost every week.
Bad take my friend.

Understand this: the US is sending plenty of sprinters tot he DL final, and those are the men and women who actually brought back medals from Tokyo. You also act like other top distance athletes aren't racing consistently across the year. Kipyegon, Hassan, Muir, Gidey, Cheptegei, Rotich, Ingebrigtsen, etc, etc. You're going to argue that Grant Fisher has had a more punishing schedule than any of those? Maybe those high school track TTs are where the real pressure is in elite T&F.
In any case, the point is not that BTC athletes don't deserve a rest, it's that they burn themselves out doing stuff that barely improves their standing among the elite, like competing in the highest level meets
"Omg Jerry doesn't let his athletes race enough and only lets them run at high school tracks"
Top 5 women 1500 in Tokyo:
Kipyegon - 8 (4 DL)
Muir - 14 races (4 DL)
Hassan - 13 races (3 DL)
Gebrezeebiher - 11 races (2 DL)
DeBues Stafford - 11 races (3 DL) ** BTC
Hassan was gassed at Pre, Muir has ended her season early saying her body can't take it anymore. GDS races a comparable amount of total races and and a comparable # of Diamond Leagues, and yes, is also clearly trashed. Not as bad as Muir (4:05 to end her season), but clearly way more than the others too.
When I said everyone is gassed, a) I was referring to middle and long distances as sprints is a totally different dynamic and b) obviously there are exceptions to that, but your head is in the sand if you aren't seeing the fatigue and subpar middle/distance performances post Tokyo. Jakob won last week in Lausanne with a 7:33. That's almost as fast as his last 3000m in Florence in June vs Cheptegei, Ahmed and Gebhrewet. He couldn't come close to being faster than Alan Webb in Pre, despite being able to win Olympic gold in 3:28. He's clearly exhausted, but even then still winning cause everyone he is racing against is pretty gassed too.
"Shelby's clean" ?? Don't think so. Erase her time trial American records !!
Totally agree. Erase the cheat times. It’s the right and fair thing to do.

How is that fair? Shelby ran those times clean. I'd like to see you run 14:23 ($150 says you can't do it even with EPO or HGH)

Listen to Chris Derrick explain why he had a rough season. It's sad to see he hasn't beaten his 10k PB he set in college. It seems like Jerry's philosophy is to only go for home runs, not singles and doubles.
Talent is talent....as a coach who had an athlete beat Freriches, Karissa, and Hall at world XC in 2019 I was surprised by how poorly they performed there. I mean did Jerry even look at the course profile? US women had one runner in the top 50 (Bruce at 22nd).
Impressed with Karissa and Cranny and on the BTC men did well at the Olympics.

Funny that you mention that. If you continue listening to the show, the interviewer asks him what's different about Jerry's training from Track to XC. Chris basically said nothing changes. I imagine that's why they did so poorly because they hadn't trained for the course.
Out of curiosity, how did you train your athlete for the course?

Shelby is clean #freeshelbo. While on the topic of Shelby, she seemed to be one of BTCs athletes that never got burned out or injured.
The AIU report says otherwise. Americans just don't being accountable for their f^%$ ups like this, Afghanistan, and every other athlete who was a doper and y'all have your heads so far up your own ass that you won't admit.

never burnt out, never injured... hmm something about this makes "shelby is clean" seem even more unlikely
Regarding the podcast, when asked if he has any advice for his younger self, he says it is too personal, seemed odd to me, anyone know why?

That was weird. He seemed very personal at that point.
Any guesses?
The only reason BTC trains as hard as they do over and over is because Nike has the athletes regularly doping for recovery.
It's not a sustainable way to train otherwise. And no, they're obviously not the only group with this problem.

Disagreed - Jemma Reekie just beat Kate Grace in the tonight’s DL.
Conclusion - it’s the end of the season and everybody is knackered and needs a rest!

I'm glad someone understands how difficult and stressful it is to compete in an Olympic year. Clearly, "High Hopes" doesn't have a clue, nor do many of the idiotic people who post stupid sh^t criticizing athletes for "burning out" or shutting down their seasons.
+1
Many who post to criticize the USA’s top runners have never experienced being at the elite level and therefore are clueless as to what it takes and the toll it takes.
Such is the direction of a growing number in our society (and on this message board) that view excellence with jealousy and distain. Plus, from afar, they want to believe they know better than the athlete and coach (in this case an entire training group) they bash.
I, for one, applaud the athletes that put much on hold and everything on the line to achieve their best and go after their dreams. By doing so they bring joy to track and field fans like me.
And so… we should celebrate, support and wish the best for these fine young men and women who are human, do super human things, and just maybe get tired in the process and need to take a break from season to season.
