What's up with Fauble? Is he coming off an injury?
No, he just trains with NAZ Elite. You can expect poor performances from them.
That’s not a poor performance. Look at the guys ahead and behind. And the time is pretty good.
FYI in the 1970s and earlier, road races were typically 5 miles, 10 miles, 20k (go figure), or some odd distance based on the course (think Manchester); hence, 7 miles. There weren’t any 5ks or half marathons.

Can't say it any better than that. NAZ Elite are an incredibly mediocre team. Glad to see a brand other than Nike supporting a team like that, but man, they just aren't good (aside from Aliphine).

So, why is this race 7 miles?
Because it's a road race, point to point. Back in the day, people ran races to challenge themselves and beat their competitors, didn't have to be some exact international distance. It was a race!
It used to be called 7.3 miles, then 7.1 before being measured at 7 miles exactly. I first ran it in 1975 and there have been no course changes or reconstruction that I recall.

Wait, wait. 'That' Edna Kiplagat? At 41 years old?? .
Edna is 51 per LetsRun's Kenyan idiosyncratic calendar.

Fauble got 10th in this race, a little longer than a 10k race. A ton of people in this race have 10k PRs faster than him, and his PR is from over 5 years ago. Ben Flanagan, Biya Simbassa, Emmanuel Bor, Frank Lara, Parker Stinson, Leonard Korir, and Futsum have all run sub 28:00 10,000 on the track and another 7 or 8 guys have been within 10 seconds of Scott's 10k PR more recently than Scott has. This wasn't a bad race for Scott, this was just an extremely competitive race in an event that isn't his best distance anymore. If they were running a marathon he would have probably been about 4th or 5th place. (some people capable of beating him haven't even run a marathon yet)
