What a joke. Winning time 1:45 after a pedestrian first lap. It seems like nobody wanted to win.
Murphy and Amos - both very disappointing.

What a disappointment in so many ways
You realise this was a race and not a time trial?
Worst since Ovett's win in Moscow back '80.

Is this the slowest winning time since Wottle in '76?
Clayton Murphy got screwed. Couldn't pass unless he wanted to go into lane 3. Impossible situation
I really enjoyed the race.
It was great to watch the tactics. Some better, like Korir's and Dobek's, some not so good, like Rotich's, but it was a very exciting race.

Wtf? He chose his own positioning. If he got screwed it was by C Murphy.

Rotich left himself too much ground to make up over the last 100.

Ovett would have finished 20m clear in this race.
It was the worst and most devalued middle-distance Olympic final since Seoul 88 1500m.
Brazier and Burgin both injured, Amos falling flat on his face in the semi must have taken something out of him. The other faller wasn't allowed in to the final. A possible medalist and somebody with insane closing speed - Oliver Dustin - sabotaged by a French lab at the worst possible time of the season.
Korir is not the best 800m runner in the world, probably not in the top 10 unless it's a dawdle like today.

Amos was struggling in the semi before he fell.
That was proven in the final.
Donovan MF Brazier would’ve laid into this field with a 1:41 high
Wtf I had this in my calendar for 8:25 am

Korir was the best when it counted.
He will be remembered as a great athlete and an Olympic champion.
Korir and rotich smashed some weak mfers today. Holy shiz that field was bad
Clayton Murphy ran more like Alex Murphy in his Robocop suit. Matter of fact i think Robocop would have beat him. lmfao!

I don’t think 20 m clear is fair but I think he might have won it. People like Cram would not have let the pace dawdle like that in the first lap.
However, maybe there were extenuating factors which made the runners run relatively slowly. Let’s wait to see what people like Murphy say post race before condemning these guys. People expect fast times all the time but these people are not machines. It seems like everyone was relying on their final sprint but that was maybe not the best tactic for certain people in the final.

Dumb race. A 53s first lap invites chaos. Rudisha knew that.
Tuka did f*** all. Pace was slow enough for his kick.
Probably the worst final since 2000.
