I mean, they're probably going to screw this up, but good lord she has to be our best 400 runner right now.

Yep, she could probs run the 1st and 4th leg!
Definitely put her on the final team. Hayes, Felix, Jonathas, Mu.
Mu, Muhammad, Syd, Felix

The first three are obvious. Number 4 should be whoever comes out fastest in the open. No questions asked. Next 2 should run in the prelims with whoever.
Maybe Mu runs both rounds?
You have to have Mu and Sydney. Muhammad would be my next choice, but just figure that out as it goes on.

For the gold and the ratings. Has to be this quartet. NBC will insist.
Take our top 2 fastest from finals of women’s 400 and then add Syd and Mu

you absolutely can't have Felix over Hayes if she doesn't beat her. If it happens, there needs to be a major uprising. Or Hayes needs to be paid off BIGLY!
Benjamin would run fastest split on the 4x4.

If I had to guess, I would say Delilah gets left off, unless Felix beats Hayes, then they can justify the desired team of Mu, Delilah, syd and Felix.
But if Felix finishes 2nd, Delilah gets burned, 100%.
If Felix finishes 3rd (IT COULD HAPPEN), no excuse to have her in.

Yes, just as Syd or Mu likely run fastest split for the gals.
The finals of the 4x400m should be Mu, Muhammad, McLaughlin and whomever is our top athlete in the 400m. That would be our best lineup.
Muhammed, Felix, (Manson or Anderson), Ellis
Hayes, McLaughlin, Jonathas, Mu in the final in that order.
Whatever you do, don't put Irby on another relay.

What do you mean finishes 2nd? Gets the silver? or 2nd American?

The pressure on USATF to put Felix on the team for the final will overwhelming. Her last global race, the last gold medal change, after all the hype? There are forces at play far bigger than simply allowing the coaches to put out the best relay team. Felix will be running. Maybe Hayes will too instead of one of the hurdlers or Mu. Mu or the hurdle gold medalist might decline or defer to Felix as they had their glory and this is not their focus.

whoever.
a 19-year old with a gold and a shot at another is also as good of a marketing opportunity as you can get in track.
