Finally, we won a gold. Until now a very poor showing by the U.S. Congrats Valerie.

this thread should get at least 100 posts. Epic performance by Allman, dominated the competition by nearly 2 meters.
Awesome news!
The first toss was incredible. In slow mo you can literally see her putting her arse into the throw. They say she was a dancer in her youth and you can see it in her movements.
Allman wins. Discus.
My top non-track showing of the Games so far. The video short of her tossing it into the net, then coming up big is epic.

Her 1st throw won the competition....
Yeah, but that's not as dramatic now, is it?

Way to go Valerie! We’ve now also had a gold in the W 800m and you can expect one in the W 400m hurdles. Don’t discount the non-gold medals or the events yet to come. Rio May have spoiled us a bit. We’re just one country and doing pretty well.
She's an amazing athlete, her dance background sure helped.
I think the photo of her celebrating is one of the best to come out of the games so far-https://twt-thumbs.washtimes.com/media/image/2021/08/02/aptopix_tokyo_olympics_athletics_93044_c0-126-3007-1879_s885x516.jpg?adc66c745825e01858c7e49b264fc480677e522e And how's this for a story of how she started throwing?
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/aug/2/allmans-joy-discus-thrower-waits-out-rain-for-gold/As a teenager, she was a dancer who dabbled in different track disciplines. But she hadn’t found her true track calling. The throwers on her high school team in Longmont, Colorado, said she could partake in a pasta meal with them on one condition: She had to give throwing a try.
That’s how the discus became her thing.
“Looking back, gosh darn, that was the best spaghetti dinner of my entire life,” said the 26-year-old Allman, a multi-time All-American while at Stanford who now and trains in Austin, Texas.
Allman?
All woman! Except for the male hormone derivatives she puts in her body to improve throwing performance…

More like All Woman! She has to be the hottest female thrower to ever medal at the Olympics.
Overly feminizing to hide PED use. Cp. Flojo circa 1988.

American discus thrower Valarie Allman looks back on journey to Olympic gold
Our first interview with Valarie Allman and Coach Sion was exactly a year ago. We talked about how the Olympics were postponed and about her accomplishment of beating the Women's Discus American Record. About a month ago, I visited Valarie and Coach Sion again to talk about how she had qualified to compete in the Tokyo Olympics. This past week I paid them another visit to talk about how she is the TOKYO WOMEN'S DISCUS OLYMPIC CHAMPION!!! Their journey has come full circle.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
