Surreal seeing Grant blow by Kejelcha there.

Grant Fisher running about as good of a race as I can remember from an American in the last 20 years or so. That was fun.
you don't remember Rupp in 2012 getting silver? Rupp was 5th in the 10k in 2016 off of marathon training.
couldn't help but think how insane the boards would be going if farah was actually in this race. A pedestrian pace again, when so many expected mid 26 minutes!
it is interesting. have to think the same guys are at the front no matter how the race is run. maybe kipruto sneaks near the front in a time trial

How was this in any way better than Rupp winning silver in 2012?
Wanders managed to get lapped right at the end. What a tough year for him. What’s going on there? Covid early in the year plus burnout?
Runworks calc gives a 27:46 10k run in 88 degree heat index the same value as running 26:35 in 60 degree temps. Can that be accurate? I assume it refers to athletes that are acclimated (similar to their altitude adjustment).
Tiernan collapsed in the finish straight after being with the kickers 250 out, got up and staggered to the finish. Heat exhaustion possibly.

Grant had WAYYYY tougher competition.
Cheptegai in good form again. He almost had it there. The 5k is gonna be lit.

I don't think you can say it was better than Rupp but Fisher took some serious scalps. He beat all of the Kenyans.
53,9 I think, so imo this was less impressive than the ETH trials even factoring in the heat. Cheptegei positioned himself bad and would have been very close otherwise, but Barega on the other hand burnt a fair amount of his power with his surge early on.

I think the calculators are always a bit aggressive when it comes to elite athletes that are prepped for it.
I would say right around sub-27 though, especially with the humidity.

He didn't say better
What happened to Tieren on the last lap. Saw him face plant coming to the finish. Seemed to be up in the front pack near the end.
This post was removed.
Thinking Mo Ahmed could have beat Fisher and possibly medaled with a more measured last 1K. Great run though, Fisher was tactically brilliant and composed throughout the race and always seemed to be in a good position.

agree with this
such a gutsy run, nothing left on the track for Pat tonight, I’m proud to be Australian after that effort.
80 degrees 90 percent humidity
That makes more sense, 26:5X or so. Just shows how brutal conditions were despite the slow pace
