Bump because this is page 1 worthy news
Averaging 51 miles a day on that trial is mind-boggling.
yea, some of the FKTs are soft records, but the previous record holder karrel sabbe is probably the greatest ultra runner (for FKTs and 150+ mile events) in the world right now so taking an FKT from him is impressive.
He did a supported run. And he keep the path and position a secret the entire time . . . so that no one could track him, or show up to watch him and maybe give him COVID. . . . Hmmm . . . Can only be verified by his friends.
Hopefully he doesn't accidentally post his cadence data.

Yes that is interesting. But the live tracking was shared with the FKT keepers. FKT is actually like Guinness, it has a small committee and guidelines. They could easily make the route public.
He also ran one extra mile during a fire reroute. Other fire reroutes were not given the actual distance, currently.
I don’t think many people can wrap their heads around how mind boggling this FKT is. That many miles/much vert per day is insane. People thought the PCT fkt would never be broken the 52 day was so insane. For those who doubt the FKT community is very on top of making sure it’s accurate. Blows my mind. Glad Tim is coming back after a rough patch with his ultras
A lot of commenters are not happy about some of the questionable decisions made by him/his team and what seems to be preferential treatment by the FKT website brass:
