Honest question: Where are you off traveling to? For business or pleasure?

It's hard to explain to people new to the sport, especially sprinters, that it is not the USATF but the USOC which sends athletes to the Olympics.
Yeah I’ll have a phone, and follow some results and maybe some rando vids esp with athletes I know.
Going to an emotional home. If for some government covid reason it doesn’t work out, I will spend 5 weeks in the northwoods, living off lake trout, walleye, smallies, crayfish, wild blueberries and clean air. No phone if that happens!

If I get there alright, a mix but 80% pleasure. If I have to resort to the northwoods instead, then 100% satisfaction. I will read Ernest Pontifex in the tent.
I will say this—Geneva then Lausanne, then the French alps. So much to do, so many people to see.
Can the Olympics survive this snub

They have killed it for me. I would follow tons of things, but not this time.
Pisses me off, but there you have it. I ditched USATF around 6 years ago, too. I, like many others, am voting with my feet. I will never return to USATF, and I doubt that I will ever again have any interest in the OG.
And no, I won’t let the door hit my azz on the way out.
But please tell me you will have your phone. You will follow the Games on this board and other online media. You will chime in now and then. Where are you traveling? We need you Geezer.
He's headed to the USATF Masters T&F championships in Iowa. Lol.

What situation with USATF? Are they covering up far too many doping problems than usual?
I haven’t had cable in my 14 years of adult life. You don’t need to watch the Olympics. Just check results and if you see a close race, watch the video.
Me too.
This is actually the most exciting Olympics since the 80's. Drug testing is finally a thing in East Africa, and the Brits are back in the Middle-Distance events. Even American sprinters are getting caught these days or getting banned for avoiding the testing.
The emergence of an obvious cheat like Katir taking advantage of the pandemic has put a dampner on things, but if Dustin or Giles win the 800, Jakob or one of the Brits the 1500, and Katir gets busted during the Games, it will go down as the greatest Olympics since Moscow 1980.

I lost interest in the Olympics when the Soviet Union became the CIS and then devolved into republics... Jokes aside I can't have any enthusiasm for an event that is forcing themselves on the Japanese people.
Also when you know the athletes less Bolt types are unpaid indentured servants and the IOC delegates are getting paid fat salaries and take bribes with the form of money, jobs and female flesh. Who needs this crap!!!
I don't get this. Many, if not most, of the DL meets last year and this year didn't have fans. Did you watch those? There were a bunch of time trial meets on obscure high school tracks and other meets without fans the last 2 years and it seemed like there were a lot of people on LR watching them. I didn't hear anyone say they were not going to watch these meets because there were no fans. I'm sure people will tune in to watch Centro's record attempt. How many fans will be there live?
A race is a race. Is Rai Benjamin less motivated to run against Warholm because there are no fans in the stadium? Sure fans add to the atmosphere but a good announcer can add a lot too. As a track fan I just don't get only tuning in to watch a good race because there are fans in the stadium.

A friend of mine just got married and is traveling through Switzerland and French Alps for his honeymoon. The pics and stories he is posting on Instagram look INCREDIBLE.
Have fun!
