Are you serious? Have you seen who is running this?
Must be talking about Titus Ekiru and Bekele. Only two who could mix it with the two who if one doesn't win then the other does [Kipchoge v Lawrence Cherono], whatever the conditions.
I believe Bekele is out. But you are forgetting about Kipruto, Lemma, Geay, and Bashir Adbi, who have all run 2:04 or better (in addition to Kipchoge, Cherono, Kitata, and Ekiru). So that's like 10 guys who are like 3 minutes faster than him. Can he medal? Of course, he's done it before. But there's no chance he wins gold over 2:01 - 2:02 guys.
Galen is now at that point in his career where it is more about what he has done in the past. Galen has not been in his prime for several years now. When you look at him now, you see a runner who is no longer special even in the US. Yeah he was able to win in a weak field at the US Olympic Trials, but one can witness that he is no longer a great runner. He is closer to what Alberto Salazar was in 1984 than most want to admit. In 1984 Alberto ran 27:45 at Mount Sac and was starting to decline. Galen actually is a similar runner now. Expect a 12th place finish and about 2:15. This is reality and it is not Galen’s fault. Please do not be expecting more.

I think he'll run much faster than 2:15, but the placing is probably a good prediction.
You could be correct about Galen running faster than 2:15. What impact do you think the conditions will have? Galen usually runs fairly smart but if he tries to go with the big boys he could really pay a price.
Would Galen be better off dropping out and then blaming a minor injury to save himself for Chicago which is only 2 months away? I think it would also help him save face from a likely humiliating finish. Then maybe at Chicago he could break 2:10.

He ran 2:10 in Rio. I don't see him as being any fitter now. Not sure how exactly today's conditions match Rio. Kosegi was like 13 minutes off her PR yesterday if that's an indicator. Obviously just one runner, but the best female marathoner ever time wise. So I think Rupp does something like 2:12. This ASSUMES he finishes the race as he has a tendency to not do that all the time.
Yeah I would be a bit surprised if Galen could run 2:12 today, as I wonder if he will hang back or not. If he hangs back that would help his final time, but if he goes with the more aggressive group he will likely either run 2:15ish or DNF.

It sure looks like the day of the marathon is likely to have something like a high of 85 and a low of 77. These are long range forecasts BUT Galen is a bigger guy for a world class marathoner and the heat will take its toll on him. He usually runs fairly smart but he is also lacking his former world class track ability. This looks like a recipe for disaster as Galen ends his Olympic career with an epic failure, maybe a 12th place 2:15.
As I was saying…
Yeah...
The Salazar project is gone ......
Indeed the Salazar project has no chance ....
Bye bye rupp
A great race for Galen. Well done. Time to retire now.

Dang Troothsayer, we had this pegged. I said "something like 2:12" and he was within about 20 seconds of that. I said 8th to 12th place and he was 8th. I'll take it when combined with my prediction of Hocker going between 5th and 7th.

Yeah we sure did. You nailed it even more precisely than I did.

Wow you losers are sooooo smart, posting negative garbage about people who are so accomplished. It was so hard to predict a guy in his third games wouldn't medal. Go back to your mom's basement you POS.

Wow, he's triggered. I got the time and the placing both dead on. I got hocker's place dead on. That's not some broad "Rupp won't medal statement." I gave you the details. I delivered.

Wow what a fing genius. Maybe we should give you the gold medal. Or you cold be named the goat of predicting who wont win. Get a life loser.
Jonesy22 you obviously are emotional about the ending of Galen’s career. I am sorry you are taking it so hard. He did have a nice career, even if he cheated.

See...there you go again. You seem very upset by how poorly Rupp raced when all you clowns thought he was going to medal.
I'm not just telling you who will lose. I'm telling you who will lose, how much they'll lose by, and what place they'll be in when they lose.
I'd say a loser is someone who names themselves after a Letterkenny character. That was super original of you.
