Comes down to this: If you don't get vaccinated, you don't want to win that badly.
I just don't understand this logic. As people have noted Cole was not eligible for the vaccine at all until some point in the outdoor season. If I was an NCAA athlete with other training groups reporting having to take down time after the vaccine, I would be reluctant to take it during the season. There really wasn't a good window for him to take it.
So then he takes the 1 shot J&J after the Trials? Might need some down time then.
I totally understand how someone wanting to win might not take the vaccine.
If I had also had Covid and was him I'm nearly 100% certain I wouldn't have taken it during season. If vaccine makes Tokyo more likely then I might try and fit it in after Trials.

That totally ignores any scientific debate about a 19 year old being totally in the grey area on whether it is a good idea to get vaccinated. Germany has recommended healthy people 17 and under not get vaccinated. Same with Britain right now. Sure the US has said they should get vaccinated but the fact that two major countries aren't recommending it shows it is much more debatable than people on here want to make it.
