They could have Shelbo and CQ run against these guys in Newbury Park. That would be interesting. LOL
Did Jeff Thies get kicked off the "team" for wearing Nike spikes?
That's what I was thinking that what the series makes it seem like which is ridicoulous let your athlete have the best chance of qualifying aka use super shoes

Wow these guys are such greaseballs.
Also apparently Jeff Theis was dropped because he wore dragonflys in his last race. That seems a little harsh does it not? Why does Adidas care if a relative nobody like Jeff races once in dragonflys???
Also why would Germany tell Parsons they were definitely going to select him for the Olympics if he competed well at German champs?
He was 10s off the time qualifier and was only 88th in the world rankings. Even if Germany wanted to take him, he wasn't qualified. Parsons is a strange dude.

Maybe they like his Instagram following.
I'm glad somebody is putting out content like this. Regardless of whom the runners and coaches are, or your feelings about them, its still great to watch.
+1

If you’re comfortable with Cringing every few seconds, sure.

Normally I’d agree, but with all the money adidas invested in Drew and the total $hit show that has been tinman, I understand them being pissed about someone making their investment look even worse
Interesting that you say that:
I think Reed has always looked like a stork. Saw him in person on the ATL course bloodied and all but I think that's just his natural shape.
Drew is one of the few male professional runners who has been relatively open with his battle with RED-S but seems healthy and recovered now in that sense (not the plantar/ femoral SF sense, that is another kettle of fish)
Joey on the other hand has always been a bulkier guy and seemed noticeably smaller than I've ever seen him (especially in the ice bath scene); before he kind of stuck out compared to some of the other guys but not at all anymore. That could be him getting fit chasing that steeple OTQ or could be at least a partial reason for his "fatigue and burnout"(aka low energy availability) mentioned in ep. 2
Sam looked the same
I'll be damned if I'm going to write about any of the others

The problem is they imply that he was out due to wearing Dragonflys but don't outright say whose call it really was. Adidas? Sam? Drew? Jeff? Sort of like Syd being off the team (they confirm it down in the video comments) but never discuss it on their website, where he's still listed on the roster, nor in video recap(s) of the past year. Like Syd just turned into a ghost after that training camp in Arizona.

Not that strange, just a relentless self-promoter. It's best for ~the story~ if this is what Germany told him, so thats what he says. Who knows if it's true or not - Parsons is anything but a reliable narrator.

Basically drew us living in a frat house and he needs to be living in Olympic training group. And coach told him that he needed to be with a different set of training partners and he choose loyalty to his frat. And his mom came in and saved the day. It will be interesting when people start to have issues with the coaching - can you complain when it’s your house owners mom?
I understand they have had some bad seasons but the general consensus I’m getting from this thread is that none of y’all have every had a close friend or someone that cares about you/you care about them and you're taking the anger out on a bunch of guys that can run 13’30” for 5k while having a good time.
I am a little confused why everyone is upset about the Tom thing - they lost faith in his training, and if that happens then the system has fallen apart.
It's tricky cause of the naming, but this gave great line-of-sight into the reasoning behind the decision.
I'd also be pissed if my coach gambled on this two-a-day speed training concept and half the team got injured in an Olympic year.
The year is 2021 and people still ice bath and do PRP injections.
Guys. These things have been studied. They don't work. At all!! Ice bathing is detrimental to performance.
“Bunch of guys who can run 13:30s and have a good time”.
Only 3 of them can do that. 😂 and they act like they're up there with the 13:0Xs guys.
13:30s is great if you're:
1) A college athlete.
2) working a full time job as well as running.
If your whole life is dedicated to running and performance... 13:30s is not that great. They're going to wake up at 30, 35, and realized they've wasted their lives. WHAT WE’re watching is a bunch of adults act like kids. Let's look at what the ON Athletic group is doing... Or the Bowerman group. None of this shotgunning bears in the shower. No wonder they're burned out or injured.
As for the two a day workouts, was that Tinman’s idea? From my understanding TME went off and did their own camp, away from Tom’s original camp.
If it was Tom’s idea, and he was having them do an AM 5 mile tempo followed by a PM SESSION of mile repeats... Yeah, he deserves some criticism. The Ingre brothers do AM&PM WORKOUTS, but they do threshold in the morning, 600-200 repeats in the evening.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
