Galen Rupp and Sara Hall to run Chicago Marathon. Rupp will try Olympics/Chicago double 63 days apart. Can Hall get the AR?

We don't know who will become American in the Future, Jacob Kiplimo said he wants to switch Countries if Uganda does not support him better, Nico Young will be a Good Marathoner and New Olympian J. Klecker has run 27:23 for 10000 and BOTH his parents were good Marathoners and both had American Records at either 50k and/or 50 Miles, so Longer Distances are in his Genes, so he will almost certainly be better in the Marathon than he is at 500 and 10000

Under the current circumstances, i will get excited when somebody runs under 2:05 or wins something major.

new standards have been set the past couple years, but our athletes are not matching those standards.

honestly, my standards are just about as low as anybody else here. 2:05:xx would probably get me hyped

Nike owns he Chicago Marathon and Rupp so it makes sense. One aspect of these bouncy shoes is they increase recovery rate. Both in workouts and races. He will recover just fine and run fast. How fast? Well as always the weather is the biggest factor. I think he can pop a 2:05 but most likely it will be a 2:07.

Back in the 70s, Frank Shorter ran the Olympic Trials marathon and the Olympic Marathons pretty close together. In '76, I think Frank and Bill Rodgers went for a tie at the trials in 2:11.

Fake it?

Yes fake it. Put up a respectable time even though you're maybe not your top shape. Tougher to fake it on a hilly course where when you start to blow up it compounds to really blowing up. On a flat course you can fade a little more gracefully when you start to get tired near the end.

If you are referring to KK being born in Morocco, well ok, but he was American citizen when he ran that time.

So if you want "born in America" and "record eligible course", then in fact, it is Galen Rupp at 2:06:07, just ahead of Hall's 2:06:17.

Pick any of those that make you feel comfortable, because it doesn't really matter in the end.

It was super hot in Oregon and everyone was running for place, not time, so your comments are nonsense. Hall did win the Mini 10K in New York, It would be interesting if Hall has male pacers, as Kastor had them in London.

Hall really came onto the scene strong.

2007:

59:43 solo

2:08:24 debut

62 close in the hills of Central Park to a 2:09:02 Trials win.

2008:

2:06:17 splitting 62:13 through the half

Rupp still has not run a more impressive race than Hall in the longer distances.

I think he will want to medal at the Olympics. That’s always been his priority. If he doesn’t he has Chicago. Either way he will make $$$

Galen dream would to medal in olympics preferably gold and then take down the AR. I hope he gets at least one.
