...tell me which one has 100 degree separation from doping?
As a young elite athlete, step one is finding the most qualified coach and overall training setup to help you succeed. If the federations USATF, IAAF, etc., deemed this coach worthy of coaching, there is no proof this coach provided or encouraged his athletes to dope; who are you or anyone suggest an athlete should not be coached by this individual. Successful athletes have successful coaches; they seem to find each other. I am absolutely certain Sydney, Felix and the many other athletes Kersee has and continue to coach are focusing on running fast and not Kersee's personal life and the doping related things that have been said about him.
So you are suggesting all the best hurdle coaches are suspected of PEDs so damned if you do.....? For the record I have never heard of Mouse ever being remotely associated with doping.
I will throw the question back to you? What is the first thing you think of from a coaching standpoint when you here those names?
For me:
Telez=Lewis & Houston
Mitchell=Multiple drug convictions yet USATF approved & promoted
Pfaff=Technician
Holloway=Exceptional sprint coach & great program
Kersee=HGH & PED's
Maybe you have other thoughts, nothing wrong with that. This has nothing to do with Kersee's personal life which I don't even know. It has everything to do with his coaching reputation which in my circles was "great coach, but athletes using." Similar to Sydney joining Kersee, when Clayton Murphy, another exceptional talent, went to NOP my first thought was "he will never be without suspicion from now on, warranted or not."
As I said earlier, you are lumped with the company you keep, and if I had talent so far above others I would make that part of my decision. I never once gave an opinion who SM or anyone else should hire as a coach. I said, SM will always be suspect from this point on in many if not most people's eyes who know the sport, accurate or not.
