What a joke distance qualifying is.
Semis will be a different story

I'm sure but every non-distance event eliminates half the field in the first round. Field events get one Q round and that's it. Distances eliminate 4 runners, one of whom wasn't even trying? They shouldn't be letting just everyone in the trials. Make the q time tougher.
Down goes Brazier! Down goes Brazier!

He could just not run the semi. Quite frankly it looked like he aggravated an injury in the final 100.
What does it mean in the results when an athlete's result is highlighted in gold? In the men's 1500m Casey Comber was in gold for a while after the race ended, and now it isn't and the results are confirmed (green check mark). Now in the 200m Alfreda Steele is highlighted in gold. I would think it is a protest, but I didn't notice anything in the race for them and there is no key to explain the color coding.

The Olympics have heats, semis, and a final. I think USATF wants to have that same structure so they're testing what athletes will actually be expected to do at the Games.
I think it means that person is currently the last time qualifier.
Prandini just ran her best time ever (previous best was 22.16) and she just cruised the final 50m. She finished 4th in the 100 and she has never been a strong 100 runner. Could Prandini challenge for gold in Tokyo?
Prandini is looking STRONG
kara's commentating has been pretty darn good. I always complain about commentating but she's been a pleasant surprise. That being said, we all mmistakes . Her analysis of Blankensihp run was so off it was funny.
He wasn't boxed. He was just not in good shape.
Woaa.. What was that from Prandini.

My best guess is that it is to show the last current time qualifier

That is correct.
Did Prandini find some magic burritos?
PRANDINI

It's the time to beat for last time qualifier.
Prandini just ran 22.15 200m and she coast last 50 meters. Wow !
