It might be unfair but immediately when Shelby was popped I thought about Elle. That's what happens when someone gets caught and puts up a flimsy excuse. Fans become doubtful about everyone.
I think all of BTC is being heavily scrutinized. I like Elise Cranny, but I thought it was inappropriate of her to invoke Shelby's name as if she has been unfairly DQ'ed or something. A drug ban, an appeal and a loss is serious and should be taken seriously by every athlete. I feel for Cranny since Shelby is her friend and training partner, but it was disrespectful to the sport nonetheless.
Elle has had a meteoric rise. I don't care that she ran 30 miles a week, lots of people did that in high school. I don't care that she works on a farm. Lots of kids work on farms. Not a lot of them smash the American mile record indoors after two years of being a pro. Not a lot of them can lead a race in 90+ degree heat from start to finish and win by wearing out everyone else.
It's unfair to put scrutiny on Elle because she didn't do anything, she's not coached by anyone sketchy but what is to be believed or not believed? I believed Shelby. I believed her performances, even when they were crazier and crazier.
