He is a good kid, I hope he can regroup and run the 1500 but doesn't look like it

Still a headache. Nike needs to get him a good sports psychologist. Most pros use them.
If it works, don't fix it.
More is not always better.
Any haters on Sha’Carri gonna comment on Clayton’s post-race posturing?

IMO it was a lot more earned by Murphy. He’s truly been a dark horse for these trials. I’d be more annoyed if brazier ran a 1:42, dusted everyone and was boastful about it, because that’s what was expected to happen. Murphy just pulled a huge upset and he knows it.
Injured. Just not an attention seeker so tried to tough it out.

What posturing? Crossing your arms and staring defiantly at everyone is acceptable. Learn the rules. Also, the stuff he shouted as he crossed the line is okay because if you look carefully you can tell he mouthed, "I will remain calm and poised at all times!"
I'm so sad to see that Donovan Brazier didn't make it to the Olympics. He's such and incredible athlete and competitor, and had a great chance at a gold medal.
He needs some Lydiard training. 20 long runs worked for a guy named Peter Snell.

Murphy didn't pull an upset, he looked the smoothest out of everyone the entire trials. People put doubt and slept on him because he had some slower 1500m races but the man shows up when it matters. Brazier and especially Hoppel both looked rocky in the heats. Murphy is class and will show that again when he medals yet again in Tokyo.
Good riddance. Won't be missed. Neither will his noxious fanboys
Nonsense he medaled at Rio and has more experience than Brazier. It’s like if Centro ends up winning the 1500m on Sunday. Everyone on here is just too busy writing off the older guys psh
I am glad to see Clayton show The Fire. He is in another zone entirely of confidence.

It looked like most of the field, and Brazier in particular, was completely baffled when Jewett took it from the gun. Brazier had to put in a ton of work to get into position and looked gassed by the end. Need to manage your effort in that heat.
Yeah, which is surprising since every race I've seen with Jewett, he goes out in like 50-flat.
Brazier's burst after 300m came right before Jewett decided to blast the 3rd 200m. So he wasted all that nervous energy to close the gap, in the heat. He was def feeling too soft for that fast twitching into a final kick.
Whereas Murphy timed it perfect to conserve until it was time, and his kick was truly nasty ill give him that.

1. Brazier didn't have it, no way he was gonna pop below a 143.5. Didn't he say he had a nagging injury in the spring?
2. Jewett's 350m to 550m kinda messed up Brazier even more. Right after he decided to close the gap, that's when Jewett starting putting more gas on. That messes up your flow.
3. Murphy's kick from 270m out was DEVASATING.
Tbh kudos to Murphy. I thought he was done when he got toasted in some 1500m by B and C listers a few weeks back. 1:43.1 in the heat after rounds, kicking wide... that's legit. Might be an even better effort than his 2016 Rio one.
Agree all around and Jewett is a disruptor, those are tough tactics to deal with. Great racing. DB will be back, you don't run 1:42 by accident.

People were sleeping on Murphy end of discussion.
Maybe they were but that had nothing to do with what Brazier did. Good for Murphy but Brazier just choked, folded, quit, whatever you want to call it.
I think what you’re seeing is a lot of these athletes were juiced to the gills last year for the Olympics. When things got pushed back for some reason they couldn’t replicate it.
I thought Brazier looked skinnier yesterday.
Biggest choke job of the Olympics. He now takes over Lyles’ spot not even coming close to making the 100m team. Braziers performance was as bad as I’ve ever seen. Complete suck job.
Injury excuse coming out in 3,2,1
He had to have injured himself during the race to blow up so big like that.

Old guys??
Maybe Centro at 31 y.o. but Murphy is only 25.
....For reference, Brazier is 24, Hoppel is 23 and Jewett might be 23 or 24 (5th year senior, graduated HS 2015)
Like Centro, Murphy has way more experience than the others, but he is actually barely older than them.
Brazier probably had some injuries that interrupted his training early on. Might be completely healthy now and fit enough for 1.43 but he went out there and tried to run like he was in 1.42 shape which he probably thought he was...
Murphy ran for the win. Jewitt ran like a college dude with nothing to lose and he's been rewarded.
Inexplicable!
American record holder and 2019 World Champion takes dead last! He totally fell apart the last 150m.
